I really do not understand why anyone would worship the devil. Or even pretend to worship the Devil. Satan is a bad dude (haha that's an understatement) Who the Hell would worship him. What do those people think they will get out of it? Heck, I don't care what your supposed to get out of it, I would never even pretend. My gosh. I mean, like 'sell your soul to him' well then, how about no. I don't care if your supposed to gain eternial life, richs, or anything. I don't care if your supposed to gain anything you want. I would never sell my soul to him or worship him.
Anyone understand why someone would do that? I just don't understand I mean I know I haven't exactally 'found God' in a Christian standpoint or whatever. But jeez....That's crazy, I swear.
ok yea...that's it (I just watched The Ninth Gate with Johnny Depp. It was Goooooood haha)

Why do people worship God? Or pretend to worship God? Either they truly believe in what their doing, or they feel they have something to gain for it. There are a lot of corrupt people in the world and a lot of foolish people who will do anything to get what they want, mainly power.
I suppose some people do it because they simply enjoy it, some to get what they want and some people are, like you said, crazy.

ya i know what you mean. I'm not comepletly sure what i belive in, i'm kinda open to all ideas, just more leaning twords some then others. but i agree- who the hell would worship satan? i mean, that's just like, retarded.

lol well said. i believe in god and have done all my life. out of my own choice may i add. not to sound like too much of a freak... i need him. he helps out when you least expect it and in the most perculiar ways. some would put this down to luck but i dont belive in that. do you guys believe in luck or in fate?

the reason some people worship a god or devil is becuse people need to be led like cattle you see humans suffer from the fate of needing leaders no mater how imoral or stupid they be

I think he's just the person that helps to test your faith, like in the book of Job. I don't think Hell exists, either, I believe in Karma/an all-forgiving God.

People think they need something to believe in to live. I don't believe in god or satan. But asking why they believe in satan or worship him and then saying it's stupid, that's basiclly like them doing the same to you. How would you feel if they said worshiping god was stupid? I don't think the reaction would be good at any rate....

Because in the Christian religion, they believe that God is omnipotent, all knowing, and "good".

In the end it's a matter of point of view. One person's good is another person's bad. And people turn to their beliefs in times they are desperate and in need of support.

i have a satanist friend and he says they dont really worship anything, satan is just an anti-symbol, a way of being against all belief.
they believe in the self and in physical reality, he says.
as for me i believe in god but i think the devil is a fiction.

The word Satan is derived from the arabic word shaitan, meaning The Adversary.
As such a true Satanist does not worship the devil, but challenges everything that he is tought. For this very same reason the Christian Church has, for centuries, marked scientists as heretics, since they defied the church by trying to figure out how things work as opposed to simply guzzling up whatever explantions the church could come up with (most of the time being 'god wills it thus').
Ergo, a true Satanist worships thought, if they worship anything, and not the devil.
But as a reply to the original question, some people are simply plain stupid. Sometimes I even think we shouldn't've come down from the trees in the first place. wink

they turned out to be either buddhist or amish!

God's God, the devil's an angel, a creation of God, who rebelled against God, so God threw him out of heaven. The devil tries to mimic God, while leading people to hell to get back at God. Hell is a place of burning pain, and the devil will not be exempt from it when his time comes. It's just not his time yet to go to hell yet. btw, the devil is a deciever, and when someone turns from the truth, they will grab at anything for a replacement for God. Satanism is just one of the many lies people turn to when they refuse God.
