American Idol. Rock Star. Nashvile Star. So You Think You Can Dance.
the list goes on.
I'm wondering what happened to becoming a star the old fashioned way? Through hard work, determination, a cost of you and your friends money, and TIME. When a band/group/dancer/actor had to either a) send countless demo tapes to companies or b) Luck out and have a representative for one of the companies be at one of there performances and get signed. But now anyone who can imitate another person can get signed. REALITY TV IS NOT REAL. yet more people get there damn lives changed every day by them.
There is only one way we can get these shows cancled.......
GAIA WIDE BOYCOT.
Drop there ratings and the they will drop the show.
but enough of what I think.

The reason for the increase of these shows is that too many people think you have to be famous (even if only for a brief time) to be successful in life at all. They think that if they weren't famous at some point in their lives that they haven't made any useful contributions to society. Even though most of those who are and have been famous have actually made the fewest useful contributions to society, and it's those who aren't remembered who make the contributions that matter.
Well... it's that and the desire to be rich. Most people think that being rich will solve all their problems. They believe that if you have money you don't have a care in the world and can do whatever you want. It is true that rich people don't have to work and worry about how they're going to pay their bills and the rent, but they do have problems. Money brings it's own problems (especially if a massive amount is gained in a short time), but those without don't see that and so they want something for nothing. No hard work, no fighting their way from the bottom. People want to start at the top and stay there (which is why so many Business majors in college set unrealistic goals for themselves, like becoming CEO by 33 and retiring at 42 or some other such nonsense).
At least that's my view of the matter.
Either way, I agree with you as far as a boycott goes. I've never even watched any of the shows you mentioned or any other kind of "Reality TV" show.

I feel that it is a waste watching those shows. you make yourself successful by trying and succeeding, not by waiting for the world to lower it's standards so you can be successful without the effort.
Success without effort is truly fruitless.
I gonna start spreading the Anti-Reality Tv sentement throughout Gaia. I would love it if you helped.

And the rest of the Idol winners can go choke on there respective crappy cds. The entire population of China produces less crap in a decade than American Idol does in a single season.

Mostly people who watch the reality show are people who like it. Why would they stop watching a show they love? Therefore, your boycott would not work at all...I also think Kelly Clarkson is a good singer.

Meh. Reality TV is bullshit television. People sure love their good ol' fashioned bullshit. I personally would like to take a piss in these people's faces and s**t in their mouths. These people cannot act or sing. Why do they even try? Pssh. I can actually act and have some sort of talent (although my vocal chords have to be the worst things that were placed on the green earth), and you don't see me on those kind of shows. You know why? Because they are just pure bullshit and are not exactly real. I would like to take my talent somewhere else, thank you very much.
