Setting and Story [[ GRACE ]]
Plot:
[[ Setting: ]]
France. Paris. Year 2011. One of the world’s few places where lifestyles revolve around fashion, beauty and originality.
[[ Story: ]]
Sweet, exotic, beautiful, awe-inspiring France. A place where flowers bloom and the poet’s dream, the stars gleam and the earth turns as new adventures unfold each day. Customs and treasures abound, there is a mysterious, captivating spell that every citizen and every traveler are drawn under in an achingly blissful experience. Diamonds and rubies; silk and cashmere; wine and champagne; books and art; monuments and museums; castles and cottages; grapes and strawberries; films and theatre; fashion and money. France is the center of the world for some people, a dream destination for others, a wonderful honeymoon place for those with rings on their fingers.
Those that live in France, however, know another story.
Trial and error, trying and failing, pushing and pulling: a never ending struggle for success in a world of prima donnas, celebrities and turn of the century technology. From the streets to the alleyways, and inside the numberless studios that dot the country, a new terrain has arisen out of the pure creativity of cloth and patterns. Physical beauty has dominated the backdrop of the twenty-first century, changing the outlook of an entire generation as skin-deep exquisiteness became an idol for countless.
Paris. An almost cliché city in the year 2011. Writers use it without regard for the disintegrating respect for the capital’s history and style. Everywhere across the world replicas have sprung up - in households, hotels, entire suburbs and a variety of other business structures - featuring France’s unique sophistication. Everyone wants to go to France: to taste the wine, tour the winding streets and stand on top of the Eiffel Tower to pledge their love. Fashion, however, is the main subject of attention that women, children and men alike cannot help but crave: who wouldn’t with such gorgeous lines of clothing available? After all, with so many boutiques lining the streets, it would be a surprise if a person didn’t stop just to browse.
On the other side of the shop-glass lies clothing drawn up by talented designers, young and old, all whom have dedicated their lives to the four seasons that they send their newest lines out into. To display their new collections, designers must find models. Models, male and female alike, desire to stalk down the cat walk and be recognized throughout the world. Nowadays, models are needed not only for the cat-walk, but for other lines of modeling as well: from magazines to websites, theatre costumes and commercials. Agencies across France scout for the most beautiful, handsome and cute models they can find… Including one special modeling agency that opened it’s doors some six years ago.
[[ GRACE ]]
The word itself embodies a type of fluid excellence models seek to obtain. That casual, composed, even regal look that divides them from the normal populace of contenders and sets them on even ground with the god’s themselves. GRACE, though, is not just another agency. It is the pinnacle of a model’s career to be invited to join GRACE. So few are allowed in this elite group of male models, some say that if you are not born with the luck of a god on your side, there is no chance that you will ever gain entry into its splendor. GRACE is the supreme, the majestic, the cream of the crop. Each model that goes in is awarded with a name inspired by the Greeks or Romans: they are made into legends.
[[ They are made into the gods of the fashion world. ]]
Events in Order [[ Points in Time: ]] 2003: Lark announces his retirement. During the next two years, Lark recruits his six fellow employees and franchisers. 2011, April: The Spring Début.
The Current Story [[ Current Hours: ]]
Eight years ago, the man that had been named the “Most Beautiful Man Alive” four years in a row announced an unexpected early retirement from the competitive world of modeling. To the shock of his own agents and co-models, he told the watching nations during a live television interview of his decision - all during his prime hours as a male model. No one knew just why for exactly two years after that moment; the model seemed to disappear without a single report in any form of media on his whereabouts and activities.
Then, two years after his upsetting speech and final wave, he surfaced in the eye of the public once again. This time to announce a beginning: centered in France, inside the favorable city of Paris, he presented the world with a new, elite group of models: male models who specialized in all the offered branches of modeling.
GRACE had entered history.
Five years later, a new line of models were recruited - young, bold and beautiful - and given titles that they would one day live up to. The models that were currently representing GRACE were assigned one of these boys as their understudies. Now, a year later, their stories are unfolding as they ready themselves for the 2011 Spring Début. Unfortunately, there is one small, itsy-bitsy, tiny problem…
The absolute chaos that stretched out between the models, their co-workers and their employers.
Hate, lust, violence, misunderstanding, adoration, love and obsession alike encompass these thirteen models and seven members of the GRACE establishment. If they cannot learn to live with one another, let alone work with one another, than will the upcoming Début be a fiasco? Who really knows…
For now, the new season is due to begin in four months, and it seems that the relationships between the models and workers are more tangled than ever.
Tangled Threads [[ Tangled Threads ]]
Six years ago, Lark Chauvineau opened GRACE, and brought the future with him. Amongst his staff were several renown faces:
Harlem White, Mr. Hollywood himself, had taken up a position as GRACE’s secondary Owner. Seiji Asada, known as Neptune during his time as a supermodel, was aboard as the Head Manager. Sapphirus Parr, one of the world’s best known photographers, had taken up the position of Lead Photographer. At his side would be none-other than the scallywag fashion-rebel Reese Chapman, a top clothing designer who would hold the helm as a Correspondent between GRACE and the fashion world. Kensuke Nakaniwa, straight out of Japan where he once worked for a top modeling agency, was now the lead Relations Advisor and Supervisor for the models of GRACE. Last, but not least, would be Nicolas Greer: a young man who’s position as Lead Modeling Agent and Consultant took the world by surprise.
These seven men, although young and famous, had set out to see that Lark Chauvineau’s mission to produce a new, unorthodox line of models would remain on course. Little did they know that personal issues would be yet another barrier they would be forced to overcome during the next six years.
At first, four models had stood for GRACE. By the beginning of the third year, they were all replaced by new faces, as the world spun quickly in one direction and filled the press’s minds with higher expectations than GRACE first foresaw. These five new faces included:
Seth Moire, quickly given the title Adonis by all his fans. At the age of sixteen, he was a heart-breaker and a silent figure of worship in the eyes of girls and boys. Artem Menisci, the God-like figure of Scandinavian heritage, was entitled Jupiter amongst all the models at GRACE., and continues to this day to lead the others as Top Model - he was eighteen at the time. Alexei Sazonets, a Russian man with a mixed English/Russian accent, found himself given the title of a lesser known God - Ouranos. His sleek, nineteen-year-old poster-self could be found plastered on walls throughout the world. Tracy Kohl, eighteen and gorgeous, was entitled Eros by his adoring fans - of Scottish and Swedish blood, his piercing gaze and sharp-featured visage was instantly a winner in America, Japan and Europe. Cameron Jacobs, the oldest of the models at age twenty, was once an young actor for several European productions. His transition into the role of “Vulcan” only increased his popularity ten-fold in 2003.
Not two years later, a new change unfolded in GRACE: understudies.
Apparently, Lark Chauvineau felt that it was high time that GRACE expanded and strengthened it’s name, business and presentation in the fashion industry. And, so, no less than eight young faces appeared in GRACE one month after he made this decision. With five elite models and eight up-and-coming rookies, trouble and romance was sure to brew…
If only Mr. Lark had known at the time just how twisted things would get.
