((Gaia is not letting me post my story to my own thread! ARRGGHH! Anyways this is part five for all who are reading, though it looks like not many are... crying gonk scream ))
Within his mind, Xaryan began to spread his anger and grief out to the surrounding animals of the forest. He showed them Ayala's body and the obvious signs of torture. Following the image, a plea for help...a plea so that it would never occur again, to any creature.
And his call was answered. Foxes and forest cats slunk up to him, staying low to the ground. It was not in their nature to get along, but another had control of them right now. Then the wolves came, panting from their run from the Holt, and stopped just shy of the clearing. Most impressive of all, were the two bears that lumbered up out of the darkness of the woods. Lupine eyes opened into slits. He stares each creature in its eyes, reassuring that it would be over very quickly. That once the deed was done, they could return back to normal night life.
Ghostcaller came forward and met Xaryan's stare. **The spirit of Ayala was hard to find. It did not mingle with the great hunting grounds of the wolf pack.**
**But you did find her? Without her ghost, this may never work.** Xaryan's confidence was shaken for a moment.
**I have her.**
The great white wolf closed his eyes and an eerie call met the night winds. It was in his nature to call upon the spirits of the wolves...the pool of magic that had mingled with the spirit of wolves long dead had seen to that, but to call up the image of a cousin. That was a little harder. Finally, a faint projection began to flicker before them. Adding a deep rumble into the call, Ghostcaller gave all his strength for this one little fox and his elf's desire for vengeance. At last, an image of Ayala stayed formed. It was of how she appeared when she died. Daintily, the image made its way into the camp.
<Look, a spirit!> the old man, Vralen cried. He stumbled backwards over a log and landed on his back. Opening his eyes, he could only gawk the glowing eyes that stared back.
Streak turned and watched as the fox's spirit dance up to him.
"You killed me..." a voice hissed angrily. Quickly, the words left with the wind. "You killed me and left my corpse to rot..."
A dark-haired, lanky youth fell down in fright. He screamed and covered his head, afraid of what the ghost would do to him. Peeking through his hands, his eyes bulged as the image of the mutilated fox walked over to him.
"And you helped in my death..."
<N-no! Leave me alone!> Getting up, he ran into the forest. The boy, actually called Tall Hunter, kept going deeper into the woods before his body gave out. Collapsing down, he prayed to Gotara for his safety. He did not see the wolves approaching him from behind.
"All of you will pay for my humiliation...my death..." The airy voice continued to threaten them.
A braver youth threw a rock at the apparition, hoping to dispel it. Yet, he only succeeded in striking Streak.
<Yunglar, you are a fool!> Streak growled. Slowly, he walked up to the projection, stupidity overruling fear. <Demons! I know you are behind this! Enjoy your little games before I come to cut your ears off, one by one. And I shall make a necklace to prove that I am truly a demon killer.>
The human laughed at this and kicked dirt at the ghost.
