In the Wake of Hurricane Katrina...
Such despair now... Reflected in their eyes And weighing so heavily In our hearts.
Tears not worth crying Fear and sorrow, Too much to put into hiding When so many have died or are dying.
No words can be spoken and no relief seems to be coming. The gifts of life and hope are a token of relief. A mere token.
Too many shall huddle while others sit and cry ,"What a shame!" And silence will follow the call for there is no one to blame.
Times like this will sort out Those who are hero or coward And they shall be found when adveristy comes around.
Prayers, now go forth into the sky and everyone's efforts are renewed. Does it matter which god has been called? When belief and faith have gone askew.
But nature is to continue onward and stand back up, brush it off. No matter what knocks humanity down Cities and towns will rebound.
The supplies will come and not stop Needs and wants will be tended to... One day the waters will recede and all that was pent up, should be freed.
Neighbor will look at neighbor and friend will look at foe. The true nature of humanity at this time will surely show.
For hope has always been there and will forever continue to break through. And when the skies look their darkest Spirits will lift and the skies will once more be blue.
