spook-- by minsuil
she has not really known a world outside of the shadows, nor can she imagine the world outside of her realm of darkness. teddy tells her stories about a time when she lived in sunlight. teddy tells her that in the world outside her own world there is a sky, teddy says the sky is blue with white puffs. she asks if it's like the cotton that comes from teddy's face. teddy doesn't reply, but she assumes that that's what clouds look like. teddy continues, he says that there were flowers and sunshine and, and a boy.
she likes to hear teddy's stories. teddy tells stories about a world outside her world that she knows cannot exist. a sky so blue, she imagines that blue is a beautiful color, and sunlight. sunlight, teddy said was light so strong it could light the entire world up. she doesn't believe teddy of course, because she has never seen a light so strong before, she knows light can't be that strong. light is the tiny sliver that tries to snake through her world when the door opens, but it is always devoured by the shadows.
teddy tells her about the boy, and this is when she has to stop listening. because she knows that this boy will cause her pain, she knows that his light will only brand her and hurt her. teddy has told her this story before, and still everytime she remembers the stinging pain of fire burning away her hand. her arm feels like it's been struck by lightning like a monster eating away at the very edge of her -- it hurts.
she hugs teddy closer to her chest, closer closer. she does not know when she had stopped seeing, one day she woke up and everything was black. but it is okay. she lives in a world of shadows and nothing else. she had forgotten what teddy looked like, but it was okay. because now she heard teddy speak all the more loudly and he could tell her stories of a world of sunshine and blue skies
ixu -- by xisney Ixu sat at the table. There was a beautiful hunk of roast beef on her plate, soiled by beans, peas, and baked carrots. Her gold eyes avoided the sight of the veggies as she pushed them away with her fork (she didn't want to touch them with her fingers). As she drove her knife into the meat she hoped the meat hadn't been tainted.
It took a few slices of Ixu's knife to cut a healthy chunk of meat aside. Her blue baos swayed slightly with each quick slice of meat. With the fork she guided the meat into her mouth, sinking her fangs into the juicy meat.
She chewed
And chewed
And chewed
Until the juices had left and the hunt of somewhat tasteless meat remained. She swallowed and looked at the roast beef. The juices had seeped out onto the plate, mingling with the dangerous vegetables. She glanced either way and saw that no one was looking. She took the meat into her hands and tore a piece of with her sharp fangs.
As she chewed on the meat, she noticed the juices lasted longer.
Brown-tinted juices dripped onto her dainty blue, black, and gold outfit, but she was in heaven. She continued gnawing on the roast beef happily, licking her fingers once she had finished.
honeydew - xisney
She opened her eyes and looked at the clock. She probably should get out of bed. Honeydew felt around her sheets to find her cute, green plushie. Pulling it close to her, she fell back asleep.
Her brown hair, the colour of milk chocolate, stuck out from her bedsheets, aside from that, she was completely buried.
She opened her eyes and looked at the clock. She definitely needed to get out of bed.
Honeydew crawled out of bed and dragged her honeydew plushie behind her. She slid into her lime green slippers (she wore a white pj top and black bottoms) and wandered down the stairs.
Breakfast. She opened the fridge door. They were out of milk. That meant no cereal. She'd have to make eggs or put toast in the toaster.
She lifted her Honeydew plushie to look it directly in the eyes. "This is a disaster," she said.
The plushie's sewn-on smiley face looked a little sad, but maybe because she was holding it upside down. It seemed to agree.
"Should I go back to bed instead?" she asked.
And the plushie nodded. It was so convincing she didn't even notice that it was her own hands making it nod.
"Good plan," she decided. "Lunch is easier to make."
And Honeydew went back to her bedroom, with her honeydew plushie hanging by her heels. She burrowed herself back into the sheets. She felt the weight of sleep fall over her. Her honeydew plushie snuggled against her chest.
She opened her eyes and looked at the clock. She probably could stay in bed.
