Well I figure I'll talk about work.
Work
They called me for orientation for Friday the 11th (911, who'd of guessed?). Basically signed some s**t from 12:30 to 5:30. Signed stuff, got a tour, etc. Basic training. The next day they wanted me there at 8:30. Karen, the manager, had us learn the cash register but I didn't get very far with it. They put me in the back to open up 200 boxes and organize the items. That took a while. Sunday I got off, and Monday they wanted me there at 6am! to work til 2pm, and again today. So I'm up at 5am to be ready by 5:30 or so, to be there before 6am to go in, punch in, and begin working. We open at 9am.
So Monday I was there about 10 minutes early, and Karen pulled into the lot then opened the door and let me in. She put me in the back room to open stock with Erick, who's like the head stock manager or what ever, and Lucy who's just a stock person. They're both real cool though, and helped me out since I didn't know where s**t went and we have over 85,000 individual sets of items such as Candles, thread, fabric, stamps, etc. all in individual areas (Not counting brands). So us three wake up at 6am that day to unload 300 boxes from a truck, open em, and sort them that day. After wards they put me to stock some items. That took me a bit. Helped a Hispanic couple too so knowing Spanish helped a lot.
Then today I woke up same time again but did more stocking than anything. That was fun. Used this hand held scanner thing that tells you what aisle and area of that aisle and exact placement of the item you scanned goes. So that pwns only that the aisle have a certain jumble of letters and numbers. For example FLOSS00 meant the aisle with the floss thread where as.. er.. AAEA00 or something is for.. I forget. But yea, the scanner DOES help but I still have to understand which aisles are where.
Over all, works fun. No work tomorrow, yay, but I do enjoy it. Personally I don't mind a quick break to get food in my stomach seeing as I begin to starve very quickly when working. I work, then 15 minute break I eat something and run back to work as soon as I finish. I don't like to wait the full 15 minutes if I'm done in 10 or I just sit there fidgeting my legs. Then like a half hour later, my stomachs grumbling again eek . So yea aside from wanting food in my stomach I likeNEED to work or I'll go insane. Not to boast but on my way to the comp to punch out today, i bothered to get a pack of magazines that needed to be put up, with me cause it was on the way. I don't know about everyone but other people would be like ******** it. I figure, if I wanna sit on my a** all day, I wouldn't get a job. Lucky for me, Karen likes hard workers so she gives me plenty of hours. I like to rest but don't mind working over time once I get started.
I guess the only real thing I hate about work is it gets in the way of my talking to Sam. So when I have to go real early to sleep and don't get to talk to her much (often like 30 minutes to an hour which is NOT enough).. it's annoying. Second in line is waking up at 5am. It's a b***h but once I get moving at work, I can work all day! mrgreen So anyway. Work awesome!
Oh and the name of the store I work at is called Jo-Ann Fabrics. Basically a crafts store selling items for different projects you might be working on whether it's clothes, or drawing, clay, knitting, wood, or wanna decorate your home, etc.
