Oneshot Short Story 3

I clutched my head for the umpteenth time today, willing the ache in my head away. I swear these are getting worse with every passing hour. I mean that literally as they have been occuring every hour on the hour for the past 6 hours. Each one seems worse than the last. My short temper does not at help at all as I curse and spit at the new waves of pain and nausea that threaten to overtake me. I'm sure that If my self controll was any weaker, I would have done so multiple times. Acidic bile does a number on a person and dry heaving after you've chucked up everything does not make you attractive.

I smash my fist against the floor, not realizing I have sunk that low in the first place. One of my best friends, Jared, came to my side, having taken notice of my odd behaviour only an hour ago.
"Hey, you don't look so good, man," concern stitched into every syllable. I wanted to retort and curse him out at the obvious, but it only came out as a weak moan of pain and a slight nod.
"I think something is wrong with me..." I manage to wheeze out, intaking breath in short gasps.

At this point, I was still in the grips of a new wave, making thought painful to do. Jared ginglerly touched my head, seeking out the source of my pain, or at least that was the intention, but the moment his fingers grazed my aching skull, a blazing fiery pain engulfed my entire being and I screamed loudly. I barely recall shoving my friend away, he ended up flying quite a distance. I guess I didn't know my own strength, but I ended up heaving some of the food I'd ingested earlier and blacking out soon after.

I awoke seemingly 5 minutes later, only to awaken to a harsh light. I squinted my eyes, straining them and then closing them. I wanted to lift my arm to rub my temples, but found that I could not do so. I tested my other limbs and met the same resistance. I was strapped down in a very bright area. I began to use my other senses since my sight was failing me. I heard some electronic beeping, indicating that I had equiptment monitoring my vitals. I could practically taste the chlorine that lingered in the air and I choked out a cough, willing myself to accept the smell. I moved my limbs around some more to sense for anything like needles. I felt none, but that did not go without thinking they were there.

The soft 'bip, bip' was interrupted by an electronic click and a hiss, followed by footfall and masked breathing. I could tell by sound alone that these were not ordinary doctors, if they were at all. There was silence, save for the monitors, and breathing and there was a click sound before one of the breathing forms spoke.

"I didn't think we'd ever find you again. You really gave us the slip when you ran away all those years ago. I'm surprised you've taken to this form so well, going as far as giving yourself memories. Quite impressive, I must say."

What was he talking about? I wanted to say something, but held my tongue.
"Since you are back and safe again, we can continue where we left off." There was a pause, too long of a pause it seemed, then I felt a sting then a burn as something was flooding my system. I closed my eyes and then I felt detached, floating almost when everything hit me at once. I smirked and looked at the orange suited doctor.
"Ready for round 2?"

THE END
