When is the first time that we are supposed to feel old? Is it at the ripe age of 10 when you are the oldest group of students at your elementary school? Or is it at age 14 when you are in your last year of middle school? For me it was (and still is) 17--my age now. I feel somewhat in the middle. I feel like I am still an adolescent but then when I tell younger people my age they call that old. It's like I'm---and sveral other millions of people who are 17 right now--on the brink of being a young adult. Next year at age 18 I will fit into the category and be the youngest in the group again. Will I feel old? Will I start hanging about more young adult groups. Am I old???
I was told a few days ago by a bunch of 10 year olds that I was an "Old Hag." This made me think. When did I grow up? It seems like--Sorry for the cliche--just yesterday that I wa 10 years old and dreaming about the age of 17, with a boyfriend, driver's lisense and a car. Here that "Special" age is an I don't have any of the three. But I do have that dumb feeling that I'm old. And what is with those kids? I thought all little kids wished to be either 16 or 17 because the ideals that come with it?? I guess times have changed.
