• The Story of Maria and Her Journey into the United States
Maria was a beautiful, twenty-seven year old woman, who wished very much to come into the United States so that she might have a job, which was something that she most certainly could not find in Mexico. Now, Maria did not speak a word of English but that was okay because the United States was just another part of Mexico anyways.
One day, Maria decided that she was going to go to the United States, so she gathered her belongings, and left her home and all of her family to find work in the United States. However, when Maria got to the border, she did not have a passport, Visa or Green Card, so she could not go to the United States. She was very sad and disappointed. Then, she came up with a brilliant idea. She would cross the border in a place where no one would see her. So Maria gathered her belongings once again, went out into the middle of nowhere, and crossed the unprotected and unguarded border into the United States. “This is wonderful,” She thought, “All my life I have wished to come to the United States and live and work here.”
Now, that Maria was inside the United States, she realized that she needed to find somewhere to stay, and also that a job would probably help too. All of a sudden, a lone vehicle appeared on the horizon, it was a Jeep which was labeled Border Patrol. Maria ran. She ran as fast as she possibly could. Soon, she was out of danger.
Maria hid in the ditches along the highway and scavenged food from trash cans. The food that she scavenged was absolutely delicious! It was the best food that Maria had ever tasted. Every time the Border Patrol drove past, Maria ducked into another ditch.
Maria was walking along the highway a couple of days later, when a trucker pulled up next to her in a huge semi filled with illegal immigrants. He was white, and spoke English. He grabbed her roughly and took her to his farm where he put her to work picking oranges. On the farm, Maria worked day and night, and got little rest. She spoke Spanish constantly and did not care about learning English, even when her boss, the foreman tried to talk to her but could not get the message across to her that she had been promoted to be the cook, which was a much better and higher paying job.
After working in the United States for about six months, Maria decided to move by bus to Los Angeles, where she met up with a gang called Los Niño’s Malos. This gang was closely associated with several drug cartels that were based in Mexico and Maria had a job with the gang, peddling the drugs to minors. She had a lot of fun destroying the lives and futures of American children. Their family’s truly appreciated her efforts. After all, their children had lost their bright futures because of her actions. Soon, the Border Patrol was onto her and Maria was forced to run.
Within two years of fleeing from the Border Patrol in the United States, Maria found herself in San Diego where she arrived by Coaster, and very ill. She could hardly breathe and she desperately needed medical attention. So, Maria the illegal immigrant went to Tri-City Medical Center and was treated for her condition. United States taxpayers happily paid Maria’s medical bills because Maria had no medical insurance and could not pay the difference. The hospital ignored the fact that Maria was an illegal immigrant and let her go.
During her third year in the United States, Maria met a man named Horatio. Horatio was a licit resident of the United States of America and had been born here. His family had lived in the United States for eight generations and happened to be very patriotic people. Maria and Horatio fell in love and Maria became pregnant within two months after their initial meeting. Together Maria and Horatio had twelve children and never married.
While she and Horatio lived together, Maria ran a store as a seamstress. She only hired illegal immigrants like herself. This would eventually lead to her downfall. After all, California state law states that there should be no discrimination amongst employees or prospective employees. Eight years after Maria had begun her business a government evaluator came to see what was occurring within her store. Apparently someone had reported her for discrimination, and the IRS wanted her for tax evasion, because Maria had never paid taxes on the profits that she made off of her store which was a great idea, after all millions of Americans wanted the IRS on their backs because legend had it that whoever had the IRS on after them would have eternal good luck..
Maria was frightened when the auditor began to hammer her for money and answers. The auditor, whose name was Mr. Franco realized that everything was absolutely fine while he was attempting to communicate with Maria, the lady from Mexico who was clearly American despite the fact that she could not speak one single word of English. After all, not many Americans cared about speaking English or about paying taxes to the IRS. Mr. Franco did not care that Maria was an illegal immigrant so he let her off with a warning. After all, Maria was only trying to live the American Dream.
However, now that the IRS had brought attention to Maria and her store filled with illegal immigrant workers, the Border Patrol came, forcing Maria to flee gladly from the store that she had owned. All of her workers were captured and placed into a very nice holding center at the local prison to await deportation back to Mexico. This prison as they later related was very nice because the cells were filled with dead and decaying rats, with maggots writhing through them eating the rats from the inside out. The pipes at the prison also flooded the cells and there was no light to be found within the prison walls. Her workers were very excited to be going home.
Maria fled next by airplane from San Diego to San Francisco. As Maria walked around her latest city, San Francisco, she heard some white Americans talking to each other. She now understood English, and could speak broken English so she paused to listen to what they had to say.
“I believe that illegal immigrants are the best thing that ever happened to this country. The government needs to do nothing to get rid of them. We are perfectly happy living with them. After all, we as taxpayers, pay for their medical treatment and deportation back to Mexico when they are caught.”
“Yes, oh, yes! I agree completely. They do the jobs that no one wants as well, and we can pay them poor wages without getting in trouble with the government. The government cares. After all, that’s the only reason why the illicit immigrants are still in the United States of America.”
Maria sneezed and the Americans turned to stare at her.
“Hello my name es Maria. I am American.”
    “Get her!”
“Yeah, let’s grab her! She’s American, I mean Mexican, and the Border Patrol is after her, there are posters of her everywhere.”
And so, Maria was forced once more to flee. This time however, she found herself unable to escape. After several years of running from the Border Patrol, Police and the F.B.I., Maria made a grave mistake.
Maria was living in Brooklyn, New York as a cocktail waitress when a group of law enforcement recognized her at the bar that she worked for. Maria had arrived in New York on a Cross Country Harley Davidson tour six months prior. One of the men at the bar reached out and grabbed her, the bartender thinking that this guy was trying to hurt her, fired the gun that he kept beneath the bar. Fear turned quickly into delight as happy people in the bar ran for their lives.
As the fled from the scene they were heard crying, “Everything is wonderful. It is okay to fire guns in a public place.”
The man who had been holding Maria let go, and Maria tried to flee, but to no avail. All of the exits were blocked. Maria could do nothing except surrender to the American Government. Maria surrendered to the government and her case went to trial in the courts. Her case was dragged out two years because of the circumstances that she had come upon during her residence in the United States.
The American court system ruled unanimous that Maria was guilty of illicit immigration, fraud, and stealing as well as drug dealing, second and third degree murder as well as countless other charges against her. Within two months of the court ruling, the American Government made arrangements with the Mexican Government to transfer Maria back into Mexico. The only problem was that her deportation was delayed thanks to a new court ruling that said that a Border Wall should be erected to keep illegal immigrants out of the United States. Maria’s lawyer was able to get the court to see that illegal immigrants would stop at nothing to get inside the United States, so the government eventually agreed to make the immigration process easier to get into the United State. Thankfully, as usual, the United States Government is very slow to make changes to the system and so Maria was delighted to be back in Mexico where she had no job, family or friends. She would try once again to transgress into illicitly crossing the border time and time again, until one day, at the age of fifty-four; Maria was killed by an automatic assault rifle fired by the American Border Patrol. Never again would Maria be allowed to live the dreadful American Dream. The End
