The Butterfly
Darkness, total darkness
invading every crack and hole
choking me with its strong fingers
A gentle wind teases the trees
yet I feel nothing
the air being held in a heavy hand
Towering fences
scratch the sky with their prickly fingers
stealing our passion to live
Hunger
following me like an eager puppy
but inside, waiting to pounce
The skies darken
darken with the missing souls of all who live
waiting to die
Screams
no more then a whisper
you know you will be there soon
Nobody is alive
sickly shadows of what used to be
lurk in every corner
The butterflies
that splashed color into the sky
will fly no more
