• At night I close my eyes
    and slowly float away.
To far off lands of color
    and waters clear as day.

I leave my worries far behind
and take with me my soul.
The others look on in envy
    at the happisness I've stole.

Oh, this glorious place of life
    overflows with love and light.
I wish I could bring to you this world
and hold on to you so tight.

We won't ever have to return to
    the colorless world of hate.
The others would be left behind
to face up to their fate.

And we could hold each other forever
in this beauty until the end.
Our hearts won't have to hurt anymore
or listen to truths that bend.

Yet in the morning I open my eyes
to a gray that makes them tear.
The barred windows are like toothy grins
    beckoning me to come near.

    I cry to myself silently
for dreams like that are strong.
And they always feel so real
no matter how short or long.

Your voice is suddenly in my head.
    "Close you eyes," you say.
So I take heed and close them tight
    as we slowly float away.
