Final Concert of the year! My teacher wants Germany to rule!
WAAAAAAA!!! The grade twelves are leaving choir, band and the rest of the music program. I'll miss them all! We did a great concert earlier, and I even got a couple solos in choir which I didn't screw up too badly or anything. I didn't hit too many wrong notes when the band played, either. There were awards afterwards. I don't know how music programs work at other high schools, but Mr. Darwin Krips of Sturgeon Comp makes up the entire music faculty, and he does a great job of it. I know all the grade twelves will miss him a lot, after all, he did somehow get our asses to Cuba, didn't he? (PS put a few mojitos in him and that white boy can dance! just kidding) And he lets us talk to him like he's one of us, so we can get away with saying a lot. He's good at comebacks, though. He teared up a bit when he was reading the "thank yous" and saying bye-bye to this year, so we did what any other band of music students under his direction would do to stop him from embarassing himself: we kind of hugged/tackled him en masse (there are 100 of us by the way). He got a lot of hugs throughout the evening. Including one from one of the guys. It looked like this:

I'm starting to wonder whether it's a good idea to have a German teaching Social AP all the time. His point today: no one should have done anything about Germany because they'll come out on top anyhow. Maybe we should get in a Russian or something. Or have Mr. Z and a Russian teacher try doing a class at the same time. That might be cool. Anyhow, it's a little different from the usual WWI+II study we get, what with the slightly different opinion. Most teachers I've had before didn't want to mention that Canadians fought in a war in which their side invented the concentration camp, so I guess it's interesting. He can read French and German, too, so that's handy when he's looking for information or wants to show us magazine articles he dug up. One thing I cannot figure out: why do old-school German army helmets have a pokey thing? My theory is that it's for sticking an extra sausage on for later, but there are more interesting ones that my class came up with when we should have been being productive.
