Andy Warhol (August 6, 1928 — February 22, 1987) was an American artist who became a central figure in the movement known as pop art. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became famous worldwide for his work as a painter; an avant-garde filmmaker, a record producer, an author and a public figure known for his presence in wildly diverse social circles that included bohemian street people, distinguished intellectuals, Hollywood celebrities and wealthy aristocrats.
A controversial figure during his lifetime (his work was often derided by critics as a hoax or "put-on" wink , Warhol has been the subject of numerous retrospective exhibitions, books and documentary films since his death in 1987. He is generally acknowledged as one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century.*from wikipedia
I drew this picture of myself and made it look like andy warhol came in and colored it. my mom was so proud of it, even though it looks really bad. its hanging on the wall by the computer.
did you know David Bowie wrote a song about andy warhol?
Andy Warhol *i know this sounds really stupid but its true* has like, inspired me to become a photographer. im planning out my future again... taking pictures of pigeons in liverpool, living in the basement of a coffee shop, camera around my neck wherever i go, creating masterpieces on my laptop, painting pictures on the ceiling while listening to David Bowie, and riding a bike to the park. sitting on a bench eating bagels... ever see those type of people? I could myself doing that. I wouldn't mind. It would be loads better than sitting in a cubicle day after day, or cutting people's throats open, or shoving a tube up people's butts. but i suck at british accents, so i wouldn't really fit in. i saw this photographer when i went to venice beach, and he took a picture of this beat-up van, and i saw how that scene could be taken and transformed into something brilliant.
i have this friend on myspace, and she lives in berlin. she sells pictures of stick figures. i would LOVE to do that. easy job. making charcoal stick figures and selling it for a living. does that idea appeal to you? probably not. i don't want a glamor job. i want the job that makes the glamor jobs. like photographing models, musicians, or actors. it reminds me of that question:
"what of the person behind the camera?"
i dont know many people who wonder that, but i do all the time.
