The fog of morning was stretching across the ship fast. Sound Bird was on the mast looking out for anything. She was bored and couldn’t sleep with a constant dream awaking her so often.
She spotted Silver coming up from the crew’s qourters. Silver looked up to her and waved.
“Morning Bree!” she called up. Bree, Sound Bird’s real name. Just easer to go by Bree.
“Morning Silver!” Bree called down, “Why up so early? Captain isn’t even up yet!” Silver started to crawl up to her on the mast.
Silver had a strange name for her, Silver Star. She had black hair, dark grey eyes, and of course no where near silver skin. It was a mystery why she was call Silver.
Sound Bird could be seen why it was reasonable though. She sang like an angel…a siren. Bird well because she was normally in high places.
Silver housted herself up to Sound Bird out of breath. And started to explain: “Well Captain scares me a little and I do not wish to be awoken into a nightmare.”
“Then uh why did you join this crew?” Bird asked sweeping around the mast and back into place.
“Why many others joined. Their families didn’t wan them, the community didn’t want them, they didn’t fit in, or even just seen as a failure at what they were supposed to do,” she said sadly.
“You had a great life, not putrinized, on top of socity. So what are you talking about? I’m only here because I had nothing better to do. You, though, had no where to go but up.” Bird spat standing up.
Silver looked down in shame but then looked up and said, “I just didn’t like it ok?” Silver now had light tears in her eyes.
“It was a joke? Dang you don’t have that good of humor do ya Silver?” Sound Bird chuckled and they both got down on the deck.
The Captain walked out on deck with the rest of the crew. Out walked Kiwi, yes that was her real name and she went over to the two.
“So did you find anything more out about that stupid key he has?” Sound Bird asked hoping the answer was yes.
Kiwi sighed and said, “No, I couldn’t even see the key anymore last night. I stinks!” She was the little kid of the ship.
“All of you! Man your posts! We’re finding out the secrets to the wonderous key I showed you.” The Captain ordered. He walked up to the first mate that was steering the ship.
“Yo, Xay, what do you think that key really goes to?” he questioned. Xay just smirked.
“Well if that girl wasn’t going to give it up so easily, it must go to something important.” He said twirling the key and catching it on his fingure.
“Well it was a girl, for all we know, it could go to some music box she has. What would a girl be doing with a key to something valuble to pirates anyway?” he made a sour face while saying it.
“Exactly, why would she be carrying something that a pirate would want? Besides, she had a ship sign on her, she was in hiding, and it was in a case, there’s just something wrong about that. So I suggest we find what she was looking for.” Xay just kept on smirking.
“Then if she had it, that means she’s a pirate too, and that her crew wasn’t far behind. I bet you if my name isn’t Scar.” He said. Yes, Scar the first mate.
“Well then it makes things interesting.” He simply said and went back down to his qourters.
Meanwhile 5 girls were piloting a ship of their own. Grace was navigating, Aubra was at the wheel, Hazel was on the mast for look out, Sav and Alex, that had now joined them from Nartion, were doing a cross check.
“Hazel! What was the name of the ship again?” Grace called up.
“Uh The Bloody Barren or something like that.” She yelled back down.
“Then we’ll probably find it in this area. Aubra head East.” Grace said pointing to the map then East. Aubra simply nodded and they were heading for Scagers Land. Just a place run down for the evils of the sea.
They arrived at Scaggers Land and tied up their ship. Alex and Hazel jumped down on the docks.
Sav called down, “Hey, you guys! Just find the ship and sneak in, get the key and be back! If your not back in a few hours we’ll come looking k?” She gave them a smile. The two nodded and waved good-bye and set off.
Xay and Scar were in a pub talking right next to a window. Alex and Hazel passed by the window and this caught Scar’s attention. He pointed to the two silhouettes getting smaller and smaller and commented, “Isn’t one of them the girl you stole the key from?”
Xay looked and squinted. “I can’t tell, lets get a closer look.” The two stood up and started to follow them quickly not to lose them. The two girls started to look at the ships at the docks of the harbor. Going up and down the line. Hazel suddenly pointed to one, which happened to be the two boys’ ship.
“What are they doing?” Scar puzzeled, then they saw them run to the ship and start crawling up the anchor rope. The two boys got some amusment from watching these girls go up and down the rope from falling. “Well I guess we don’t have to worry bout them getting on the ship.”The girls disappeared onto the ship, finally being able to climb all the way on the rope, “never mind.”
The two got on the ship quickly but the two girls had disappeared from sight. Suddenly, Xay got an idea.
“Get this ship out of the harbor, if there is a crew, they know what the key is too, and know where to find it. They’ll follow and we’ll get any other valuables in our case.” He told him.
Scar liked the plan and said, “Ie, Ie Captain. Out of the harbor we go.” And the Bloody Barren left the harbor.
Meanwhile Sav was playing cards with Grace and Aubra was on lookout. She spotted a ship leaving the harbor and looked at the back for the name. ‘The…Bloody…B-b..Barren!’ she yelled in her mind.
“You guys….where are the other two right now?” Aubra asked. Grace and Sav shrugged and then commented.
“They should be on the ship by now. It isn’t that hard to find. Why?” The two looked up and Aubra’s eyes widened.
“Oh no..Oh no! The ship is leaving!” She yelled down and jumped of the mast and in front of the steering wheel. Sav chopped of the knot holding the ship and ran up to Aubra.
“What do you mean the ship is leaving?!” she yelled.
“The Bloody Barren has left the harbor, Alex and Hazel are on it. That means they can find out bout the Emogin!”
“Oh. That’s defiantly not good.” Sav commented wide eyed. She ran over to the sails let them down and Grace was on look out.
So now the band of thieves were in for three things missing…
