When she woke this time she was back in the chair with Nathan looming over her. “Good morning,” said Nathan, “What should I use today?” She saw him pick up something strange shaped that looked like a rounded knife. He pressed it right below her elbow rolled it around, shredding her arm. She screamed the whole time. He rolled up one of her pants legs. He repeated his fun little motions on both the back and front of her leg. He was smiling as she screamed. He was enjoying himself, he was a sick b*****d. She panting hard when he pulled the leg back down. “How -’s your…uh, day going, uh, Nathaniel?” Her breathing was loud. “Lovely, lot’s of blood. I love the smell of your blood and the taste.” He licked her hand and blood poured down her arm. “I’m so…uh, happy for you, uh.” “I know, blood makes you happy too.” “Isn’t about time you started asking questions?” “Oh, I have questions but they can wait, until I’m done.” “You sure?” asked Kit. He took his strange devise in his hands. He held it over her head and let her blood drip down her face. She didn’t move but it felt disgusting. He lifted up her shirt and began rolling it on her stomach. She howled in agony as he got closer and closer to the bullet wound. She wanted to cry but screaming was giving him so much pleasure and she knew her tears would make his day. And she would die before she gave him that kind of pleasure. Because she knew Nathaniel, he was one of the men who had killed her brother and he was the only one who was still alive. She passed out but when she woke she was still in the chair. Judging from the dryness of the blood all over her she’d been out for hours. He worked and she passed out again. It was like for a few days. Some days she would scream, others she wouldn’t. It was impossible to mark the passage of time after a while. She guessed that they’d been down there for about a week. “Good morning,” said Nathan. Kit swallowed a whimper. “Good morning to you as well, Nathaniel,” said Kit. “Oh, why must you always be so formal? Come on, Kit, we’ve known each other for years now.” “You know me, I’m always formal.” “Yes,” said Nathaniel and he leaned back, “I suppose I should start with asking you the questions. Let’s begin with something simple. What’s your name?” “Nathaniel, you know me. I’m the Easter Bunny.” He slapped her. “Who do you work for?” “Santa Claus.” He slapped her again. “Try that again, you little b***h.” “Oh come on Nathaniel. You should know better. You know what I can do.” “And you know what I can do.” “Don’t just you love that there are no more surprises between us?” “I wouldn’t be so sure of that.” He snapped and the doors swung open. She turned to look at them and saw his men dragged in Jimmy. “Hey, let him go, he has nothing to do with this.” “Oh, he has everything to do with this. He became a part of this when you involved him in this. You made him a part of this when you let him come here with you.” “No!” “You see, Kit, I finally figured out how to get to you. Pain means nothing to you. You barely feel it anymore but you can see it.” He dragged Jimmy in front of her and stabbed him. Jimmy let out a horrific yell and looked at her. “I’m sorry,” whispered Kit. She tried to look away but Nathan grabbed her cheek and forced her to look at him. “Look at what you did.” “Oh God.” “Don’t worry, Kit, I’m not as weak as I look,” said Jimmy and he passed out. Once he did Nathan turned back to Kit. “This is going to be fun,” said Nathan with a smile. It went on like that for a while. A few more days at least. He would torture Jimmy for a while then Kit. After a while it was mostly quiet.
One time Nathan was working on Kit and Jimmy could do nothing but watch. But something strange happened that time. Nothing was working. Nathan had tried everything and still nothing. Jimmy stared at Kit through the eye he could still open. She was badly hurt, far worse than him. Nathan had been torturing them for days. They must have been down there for a week already. Still nothing and yet he was determined to break Kit. He spent all of his time hurting her. She might have been dead already as far as Jimmy could tell. She had stopped screaming hours ago and she hadn’t moved in a long time. With a snap of his fingers, Kit’s chains loosened and she fell to the ground. He kicked her in the gut. He punched and kicked her. And for the first time in a while Kit showed signs of life. She started laughing. It was a horrible laugh and he punched her harder but she only laughed harder. It was a terrifying laugh. When Nathan started yelling at her to stop she looked up and smiled at him. “Ha,” said Kit one last time as she took a deep breath. “You are one psychotic chick, you know that?” asked Nathan and she fainted. He carried them off to the other room. Once they were chained up again Kit shot back up. “Wow,” said Jimmy. Kit started to kick her legs about in a desperate manner. “What are you doing?” asked Sam, “Damn, you’re bleeding.” Her ankles were being cut by her shackles. “That’s kind of the point,” said Kit and she let her legs fall silently. They all stared at her legs, watching to blood slowly travel down. It trickled behind her chains. Suddenly sparks erupted then smoke. There were two small, simultaneous explosions at her ankles, blowing her chains off. “What the-?” asked Leon. Kit pressed her feet flat against the wall behind her and pushed. She sort of climbed in a way. Her feet slowing inched up the wall behind her back until her body was practically perpendicular to the wall. The chains on her wrists actually providing her the support she needed. She pushed as hard as she could with her legs. Her arms extended behind her like a swimmer about to shove off. She groaned loudly as the chains threatened to pull her arms out of socket. The wall shook slight then started to crack. She pulled her chains right out of the wall and she fell to the ground. “How did you-?” asked Sam. She forced herself up and merely touched her locks with her hand and they came undone, falling to the ground at her feet. “That’s better,” said Kit and she turned to them, “Solvaro.” Their chains snapped open and they jumped down. Jimmy fell onto his face. Joe and Jacob pulled him up between them. “Kit?” asked Leon as he and Sam put her arms around her. “I’m fine,” said Kit pushing them away as Nathan charged into the room. “YOU!” yelled Nathan as he rushed her and pinned her to the wall. “Hey, Nathan, I got one thing to say to you: ‘Pop goes the weasel’.” At that precise moment a bomb went off and shook the whole area. “What the-?” asked Jimmy. “Parisa,” said Kit and Nathan froze, “Come on, we need to get out of here before the whole place blows.” She grabbed Nathan, blew down the door with another spell and rushed up the stairs. “I hate you,” said Nathan as Kit panted. “I see you’re already breaking my spell.” “I’ll get you for this.” “No, you’re going to be in a very small room for a very long time, Nathaniel.” “I will get my revenge.” “Shut up.” “You killed my brother!” “You killed mine!” They paused and glared at each other. “You actually pulled this off,” said Nathan. “I am the greatest mage of my age.” Leon was the first to catch up with her. “Are you okay?” asked Leon. “I’m fine.” She forced herself up the last flight of stairs. Unfortunately she was anything but fine. She threw open a door and the group followed her up and outside. “I don’t understand,” said Fred and the building burst into flame. Kit crouched down and picked something up. It was a COM; she slid it into her ear. “We’ve all made it out, you can pick us up here.” “Kit?” asked Sam. Nathan made a bolt for it. “Hell, no,” said Kit and she chased after him. He was running back towards the building. She tackled him to the ground. She felt blood. It was hers, she was bleeding somewhere and she was in a lot of pain but she couldn’t stop. “I won’t let you win,” said Nathan as her team rushed up to them. “Too late.” She pulled him up. “I hate you.” “I’ll see you in hell,” said Kit and he paused. “What?” She shoved him as hard as she could. He fell backwards into his base as it blew up one last time, leaving nothing left to burn in its wake. “Kit?” asked Leon. She gagged and pressed a hand to her side. She felt warm and sticky blood flow over her hand. She looked around Leon and saw her brother Richard. “I had to,” said Kit, “He killed you.” “What?” “Richie.” She collapsed forward onto him and he saw that one of her ribs had burst straight through her skin. He set her on the ground. “Hey, Kit, hold on it’s okay. It’ll be all okay.” She closed her eyes as he held her. She could hear the helicopter land but she couldn’t move. She knew that she’d lost a lot of blood and all she could feel was pain. Leon was yelling something.
