Aijou is an elfin creature with a flute that holds extraordinary powers.
She lived in a quiet forest where everything was perfect, until she was bestowed with her flute and forced to become a Soul Piper. (a person who plays music for the souls of children and takes them to their final resting place.
Now Aijou roams whereever there are souls of children, playing music for them.
The sound of the flute strikes sorrow in the heart of anyone who may hear it and cannot be played by anyone else or they will die a slow, painful death and their soul pulled down into hell.
Aijou like to do other things when she is not playing her flute.
Being an elf, her hobbies are reading tarot cards, pracitcing her archery, singing, reading books, practicing her magick.
Aijou's name means love or sadness. Sadness is one thing she is very familiar with condsidering her life has been nothing but sorrowful since she became a Soul Piper. Aijou never knew what love was, she had become a Soul Peiper when she was seven, cutting her off from ther family and all the people she knew.
Being cut off from others has made Aijou lonely and unable to feel many emotions such as love or hate.
Aijou longs to give her flute up and not be a Soul Piper, but that won't happen unless her flute breaks.
Breaking a flute is very hard and the flute will always return if you throw it away so there is almost no way to escape being a Sou Piper.
Even though Aijou deals with the dead, she has never killed anyone and never plans on doing so.
Actually, she fears death, though she does not fear her own death, since she is an elf, she will live for a few centuries.
An added pain to being a Soul Piper, you are one until your flute breaks or you die.
Though, if a Soul Piper's flute breaks, it's a sign that the Piper will die very soon afterward.
So either way, death is the ony way out of bieing a Soul Piper, and Aijou is in no hurry to die.
