Yeah...this is going to be my "Summer Camp 07" page...but I'm too lazy to write it all out right now...

First Para: Okay...so I was soo nervous when I first got to Quadra...there was a gunner on duty telling the new arrivals to spit out their gum...but yeah...I met him after and he's a pretty cool guy...0.o...

I wasn't thinking about the leadership classes and roles I would have to pass for trade group three...the only thing I worried about was my music level...and apparently...I worried too much...

So, the very first class we had with our Divisional Officer...everyone in my division, spare three people, cried. Looking back at it...I find this very funny. Our officer played three songs for us, one was a angry song, another was a sad song and there was one with a special message that she would be there for us for anything. On that day...and one other class like that...we learned about each others past. Every one of us pretty much had something very upsetting happen (or currently happening) in our lives. It was a hard first week...sharing my emotions with these people...and I wasn't required to...but at the end...it brought us all together so that it was like we were family and I think we were able to play together better. It made us a better band...because we played for ourselves, for eachother...and with emotion.

Because of these few classes, in which everyone in my division got upset...the other officers at Quadra decided that our Divisional Officer couldn't handle us. She was moved to a different division, one that wasn't even in the music trade. She worked with a division of General Training cadets. But she visited us every once in a while, and she said that it was lovely supervising kids who had nothing major (like levels) to worry about. So that was a good thing. On the day she told us she had to leave, our other Officer presented to her, on behalf of the 30 of us in division, 30 red/orange roses.

She and the general training officer switched places. This officer had been in every trade, except music. He didn't know what to expect and I was a little bit afraid of him because he was a ex-gunner. Turns out... he wasn't that bad. He was funny, and worked with the percussionists (that's me!)...and was laid back...which I thought was kind of illeagal for gunners. He got the percussionists in trouble a bunch of times for doing stupid things...but he always took the blame. It was awesome.

For OJTing...(that's On Job Training) I took care of a Bos'n division. This was interesting...because I had never really understood what Bos'ns did all day...and what they had to do to pass their level. We basically spent a whole bunch of time in a type of boat called a whaler...which are apparently...impossible to tip. And they tied these really beautiful knots...I had never thought of knots as a kind of art form before...but now I do. 0.o...I got to make a tiny one...and the officer in charge of Bos'n said that it was pretty good for my first one. They are called Rope mats. Pretty cool stuff. Other then that...they got tested on the different calls of the Bos'n pipe...which I always found to be an annoying little noise maker...but...they all passed...so meh.

For my second part of OJTing...I had to work in the camps canteen. That was pretty cool. I got to hang around all the junk food all day...and met all my friends there. The only bad part was washing the recyclables...and I had already been prepared for that by my school and Career Development...cause that course was so much worst then the canteen...-shiver-

So, for my report on both aspects of OJTing...I got a great report...only that I need more confidence. Which will be gained...somewhere...down the road...maybe...
