Hailey had finally let Hohenhiem in and had even set up the little table she kept folded up against the back wall of her small kitchen. She sat it out and sat down across from him. He drank some water that she had offered, but that was all he would take.

"If I ask you some questions, will you not get mad at me?" He asked finally, a little nervous. She sat there for a moment, and then nodded sadly. He nodded back and cleared his throat. "The Colonel told me all about what happened...I didn't know until last night." She nodded, a little sorry that she had stormed off the other day when he had spoken to her.

"You remember when you and your friend managed to bring back the Xian boy and Envy?" He asked as he drank a little more water. She nodded slowly. "You two had contact with them before you tried it, correct?" He asked. She nodded. It was difficult for him to make the questions answer able so she could nod or shake her head, beings as she couldn't speak.

They were quiet for a little while when he finally spoke again. "Have you had any contact with the three?" He asked a serious look on his face. She sat still for a while, then slowly nodded. When she looked up, she saw a small smile played across his lips. "Good. That means they are still not over the gate." Hailey gave him a questioning look. "Means they aren't gone completely." He smiled.

He saw her eyes widen when he said that. "You want my son back, don't you?" He asked, a playful grin creasing his face. It was the same grin Ed always gave when he was picking on her. She nodded, face changing pink a little. He only grinned more.

He didn't move for a while, but then he reached deeply down into the pocket of his long brown coat. Hailey watched him curiously as he pulled something out. "Hold your hand out." He said quietly as he looked around the room, as if watching to see if anyone else was looking. She slowly reached her hand out across the table and he lay something in it. Bringing her hand back in closer she opened her fingers a little and eyes widened.

In her palm sat a small red rock. It was tiny. Almost a sliver when viewed from one angle. She looked up at him quickly, as she tired to give it back. "No. Keep it. Use it." He said quietly. She looked down at the philosophers stone again. It was small, and probably not a complete stone, explaining why it was so small.

"You can do it." He said with a smile. She looked at him guiltily for a long time, but he waved at hand at her. "Don't worry. I want my son back, but I think it would mean a lot more if you did it." Hailey looked at him for a while longer, then her eyes trailed back down to the stone.

Hohenhiem stood up and headed for the door. He thanked her for the time she'd given and she stood up after him quickly. He saw the look in her eyes. "Don't worry. That will be enough to get them all three back." He smiled. "I'll come back later and see how it went." And with that he left. Hailey wanted to thank him, but she didn't need to. He saw it in her eyes.
