so i was playing FF12 its almost like a sequal to FFT or Tactics advanced. But more so a prequil feel to it.
Alot of places and names from the two tactics games do come up (Vera, bangaa for example from TA)
the new system called Licance Board is interesting.
basicly you have a giant cheakerboard. On it are various abilities the top board allows you to gain Magicks, Technicks, Enhancements and Accesseries
The bottom allows you to decide what types of weapons and armor your character can equip.
also hidden on the board are Mist abilities, Think of these as FF12's 'Limit Breaks' these ablities consume ALOT of mp but unleash spells unique to each character These spells can be chained with other party members an ccombine into one large finishing spell.
This system is not so bad but when you mix in that you now have 5 types of magic (White, Black, Green, Arcane and Time) each with 7-8 levels you soon realize how easly you can overkill on this system.
The other 'Enhancement abilities' Include being able to Raise the amount of hp A pheniox down restores to a fallen ally, what ailments a 'Remedy' cures, Raiseing Max HP and even reduseing spell cast time.
its also bad when EVERYONE has the same type and layout on the board the only differance is where their Mist abilities are placed. by the way in case yoru wondering A full Licance board takes up almost 20,000 LP.
Although each character starts off with a few abilities its really no fun when everyone in your party as a heavy armor'd heavy hitter. But this system is too over simplfied for alot of gamers.
The battle system is simmular to FFXI where battles are no longer in closed feilds or secondary screens instead you walk up to an enemy on the world map as you are traveling and begin whacking it with your weapon or casting magicks at it.
the world map and doungen maps are also more realistic by makeing it so that when you leave a town your on a giant feild and not on a oversimplfied map. you still have the minimap in view (witch you WILL need) especially when in towns or castles.
personally the games not that bad a mix of old with new although alot of the loading time really lags when going to non controld character conversations.
FFT's Guest system returns were a Guest character joins the party and battles automaticly however you cannot edit this characters equipment or Licances nor can you give them gambits or commands.
Gambits are like FFT'S Auto battle system, You can control each member individually OR turn on set gambits set the desired conditions and the effective tactic example:
Lets say you have a party of Vaan, Penelo and Fran.
Vaan would be character 1 or the Party leader so you control him all the time
Now penelo and Fran are controled by the AI so when you set up gambits and conditions are met Fran and Penelo will attack or Heal accordingly with little need to franticly try and heal when you need it.
Overall I thing FF12 is a very fun game and should be tried The licance board maybe the joke of the game however its not totally flawed I'll give FF12 a 7.5 out of 10
