Journal of Lost
The Journal of Lost is lost.. and one must be lost to read it.
[E] Mel's Tale:: The 4th Coming
I've been telling myself to write out this bit of my history for a while, that way if people ask I can just refer them to a journal or blog or some such instead of pulling up my memories from scratch.

Let's see... My favorite way to digress into this story is by talking about my stuffed animals.
Heh, in person, I don't think I appear as the stuffed animal type, and typically speaking.. I'm not really. I like odd stuffies if I'm going to have any. The two that are important here are my komodo dragon, Magusk, and my fuzzy frog with the eyes slightly rolled back, NBK.
Random names for stuffed animals, aren't they? Well, they're named after my best friends from the first online RPG I ever really got into:: The 4th Coming.
I'll leave a link here for anyone that wants to look it up, 'cause I very much doubt there are many of you that know what I'm talking about.

T4C

Funny, when I went to fetch the link there were only 55 users online.
It's so odd to see that number in regards to any online game I've seen, but then... one does have to pay for it, I believe.
That was not always the case.
When I first played T4C, it was still in its early form. Still being worked on. Not exactly beta, but not quite finished either. It was also free at the time (( some time after it cost 2.50 every month or so to keep my account active. I haven't checked the price as of now. )). Guinea pigs we were! =o

Anyway...
When I first started the game, I knew very little (( a common sort of thing when people start games )), but I caught on quick enough, and grew fond of it. There were plenty of quests to keep me occupied, plenty of goblins and plague rats and orcs (among other things) to slay, plenty of people (NPCs and PCs alike) to meet.
I met NBK first. I don't know if he had been playing much longer than me, but the character he used wasn't too experienced. I met him on my way to talk to the dragon. He was posting little icons (it was the skull that got me) and I wanted to know how that was done... so I asked.
We became friends soon after and we tended to head off into adventure together. Always more fun to adventure together than alone. Also safer. xD

I met Magusk soon after. He was DEFINITELY a more experienced player. In fact, I would have pegged him for a GM ( Game Master ) if I wasn't told otherwise. He was a very helpful character. I think it was him that helped me kill the beast under the temple in Lighthaven and start my path to... good or evil, I can't quite remember which. xDD Fun times. Always worth doing two or three times, later, when you don't have to stock up on potions just to survive the trip.

Anyway, small world that it was at the time, I was reintroduced to Magusk when NBK invited me to tag along with the two of them for experience. It was then that I was told of their relationship in real life: Magusk was NBK's step-father. I think I vaguely remember him telling me once that he worked with air conditioning systems, too. xDD Just... one of those random bits of information that one never really forgets. Magusk was a bit of an idol for my character. I looked up to him as the experienced, helpful player that he was. :3

I can't quite remember which of the two helped me take the quest that got me to the second island, but I think it may have been NBK. There's a good chance Magusk was busy at the time, as he had a knack for helping newbies to the game, which is the main reason I think NBK was the one who helped me there.

Well... one day, a friend of NBK's played a prank of sorts when he was asked to log NBK out of the game (( at least he said it was his friend )), and asked me to marry him. (( Character-wise, obviously ))
I thought up reasons not to, and brought up the issue the next time I saw him, which was when he told me it was his friend that asked. I gave him my reasons anyway.
A few days passed, and he asked again, but this time it was definitely him asking. I repeated my reasons not to, and asked him not to bring it up anymore.
After another week or so, NBK said he couldn't stand it and suggested we go our separate ways, rather... not be friends anymore. I guess it was really bothering him. sweatdrop So... I obliged.

Of course, I still had a friend in Magusk, and the fact that they were related and apparently on good terms tended to have the two of them together when I tagged along with Magusk, but, whenever NBK and I saw each other in the game we might say a polite hello, but we never really talked to each other again.

It hurts to lose a friend like that.
Over something in a game that's so pointless.

Anyway. That's my T4C life, without the exciting bits of orc-killing and random monster raids that generally wound up with me dead and spirited back to Lighthaven temple. xDD

I like to recommend the game if I ever get the chance. 'Cause it really is a fun game. 3nodding
And I'm constantly missing it since my account has been inactive for so long. x3

This be Mel, signing off.
