Ripples Part 1
Clark sighed, pulling puny, insignifigant stalks of grass out of the soil and tossing them into the small pool of water. He watched as they landed, giving off tiny ripples that somehow managed to disturb the whole surface. How could one thing so tiny alter the whole puddle? More ripples rebounded across the surface, and Clark looked up. Droplets of water rained down upon him and the small pool, splashing out onto the already soggy dirt. "Lovely," he mumbled, standing and seeking refuge under a large tree. Clark's already bad mood became worse as lightning flashed across the sky, closely followed by boom of thunder. On top of the low hill, under a giant tree, he was among the highest point around. "I need to seek shelter away from this tree," Clark thought alound, beginning to walk away. Something stopped his stride, though, a small light out of the corner of his eye. He turned to the small pool once more, crouching beside it. It was glowing ever so faintly, the water pulsing, but not in time to the rain drops that continued to fall into it. Clark reached his hand out absent-mindedly and touched the shimmering surface, swirling the water lazily. If he had been paying attention to his surroundings, and if he were not mesmerized by the little pool, then he might have heard footsteps behind him. If. But, seeing as Clark's attention was completely focused on the glowing water, he did not. He did not notice the other person that was behind him until they reached out gloved hands and shoved him into the water. Clark tried to cry out, but water filled his lungs, and he struggled to reach the surface of the pool. But, the tiny puddle proved to be most deceiving, and he still sunk helplessly in the frigid water. The water was still glowing, so he could not tell which way was up or down. Clark's lungs burned for air, and he fought frantically for the surface. Slowly losing his small supply of air, his vision began to cloud, and his body went limp. While unconscious, his body surfaced to the shore of the pool. Coughing up water, Clark awakened, his fingers numb. He looked around, the storm had stopped, and the water was no longer glowing. While climbing out of the small puddle, he noticed something was terribly wrong. The grass was blue. The sky was orange. The sun was purple. The exotic colors flooded his vision, and Clark turned around over and over again in confusion. How was this possible? Was there water in his brain? Or was he in a whole new world?

I don't know why, but this place always calls me back. 「清水の舞台から飛び降りる」 Like i'd really do that? Though i did see some ハクジン try and get up on the rails...I think he might have been the same one that fed the deer at nara with his mouth.

It was a bit hard for me to read because the entire thing was just one huge block, but I did enjoy it.

You put a good amount of suspense and detail in the story especially with Clark's drowning as he fell into the pool. I feel like if you eliminated the sentence, "While unconscious, his body surfaced to the shore of the pool", and indicated a time skip.

It would make the reader question what Clark was seeing is real...or maybe he's already dead and in some sort of afterlife.

Very nice story! Plenty of detail and style!
