Californication
Well, I never write in my journal, but right now I feel it would be easiest to write everything here for people to read.

: D Okay, from the beginning.

On December 2nd, at 1 in the morning, we had our things packed into a Uhaul trailer and we started our trip across the US to California.

The first night went fine, we drove from 1 to 5 the next afternoon and stopped at a Holiday Inn just across the border of New York in Pennsylvania, which was really nice. I'd slept in the car, so I mostly just stayed up and watched TV.

The next day seemed to go well. We drove across Pennsylvania into Ohio. When we exited the freeway to get dinner (Mom had been eyeing Cracker Barrel for a few states), the transmission quit, and our car died. We spent the night at a hotel (Which happened to be across the street). We ended up having to rent a truck from Uhaul, and desserting out car in the parking lot of the hotel.

We left Austintown Ohio at around 5 or 6, and drove all night through the rest of Ohio, Indiana, to Springfield, Illinois. I woke Alex up at 4:50 AM while Mom and Mike got a hotel. I spent the uh... well, morning I guess with Alex, and we woke up early. We had lunch and hung out until Mom and Mike decided we had to leave. domokun We exchanged gifts and then we left Springfield around 5 that afternoon.

The rest of the trip is uneventful, just a lot of driving and sleeping and stupid junk. Missouri and Oklahoma are now my two least favorite states, even trumping Ohio. New Mexico and Arizona were beautiful. :'D

Now we're in sunny California! It's a brisk 65 degrees average here (brrrr!!). We're staying with my mom's highschool best friend Stephanie. She's awesome. She has two kids, Jackie (17) and Evan (13?... 14?). Jackie's as cute as a button, and she's vegetarian. Evan is a skater, and he's not around a lot.

I finally got to meet my mom's birth mother, Jannette Eguchi. We went to a christmas party at her fabulous gorgeous house. There were a hundred people there (no exaggeration). Afterwards when everone had left we sat in her kitchen and talked. It was nice.

Life in California is mostly busy and exciting. Palm trees everywhere. There are things to do every day. Stephanie wants to take us to a local gay club. XD That's going to be interesting. She got my nails done for me. It's really hard to type with them now. : D Tonight we're going to dinner at Jannette's house again.

wahmbulance The bad wahmbulance :
It looks like things are dragging their feet with an apartment in Springfield. : ( My mom is really stressed out about money, since the new truck we had to rent got 8 miles to the gallon, we had to spend all our money on the trip. Also, it looks like we're not going to be getting our deposit back, because of some things that happened back home. We don't have a car, so it's hard to do anything. Oh, and we're homeless. Well, we're in Stephanie's home, but it's not our home.

It's unnerving to be in this inbetween place. Apartment in Springfield? Or am I staying here? Should I go job hunting? I wish I could just have an answer.

I get lonely here because I don't know anyone really. I don't have any friends here. I'm not close to the family here. My mom is with her old best friend, so I feel like a fifth wheel. cheese_whine

Day by day though, I guess. I'm in sunny California, so all I have to do is step outside in the sun and look at the palm trees, and I feel better. Maybe soon we'll be able to go to the beach! I can't wait to see the Pacific Ocean for the first time in a long time. I love the beach, it's my favorite place to be. dramallama
