“The Artic Server, south from here. Sounds cold.”
“Heh. It does!” Donni said, checking out her device. “But I always thought that was North of the world.”
“The Digiworld works in many twisted ways, as you’ll see very soon, Donni-chan.” Yurimon replied. The digimon was propped on a tree, chewing on an apple as she awaited Donni’s orders… who was waiting on Tentomon’s orders. Donni was still in a bit of pain from the attack against Greymon, but was happy she’s finally awake. After she watched Yurimon- er Princessmon fight off Togemon, Yurimon repeatedly apologized for awakening Donni with a kiss. On the other hand, the human didn’t seem to mind at all; in fact, she was wondering why she didn’t remember the kiss at all. How did she feel? What was the sound of her heart? Did her breath stink? Those thoughts faded away when Yurimon blushed, looking down at the small grass blades.
“It… it was very nice. I wish you were able to remember… maybe that would have made it more memorable.”
At that point, Donni’s heart started beating louder and much faster; that’s when she realized she was blushing too. She fought off the awkward moment by explaining what a fairy tale was, more specifically the one about Sleeping Beauty, since that seemed to tie in with the current event anyways.
“Isn’t that the weirdest thing?” Yurimon had said, remembering the dream she had before she was attacked. “I remember you.. In a long green dress. That dream reminds me so much of Sleeping Beauty...”
“… Donni… C’MON DONNI, SNAP OUT OF IT! WE GOT WORK TO DO!!”
“Huh? Oh, sorry Tentomon. You called?”
“It looks like it’s still there.” Tentomon replied. “The crest of Love is still on the Artic side of the Digital World. The south with be on your left. And please make it quick; I’m sure it’s not going to be pleasant news when Alphamon hears you’re alive.”
“Haha, tough.” Donni said, flexing her right arm. “It’s gonna take a lot more than that to take me down!”
~*~*~*~*~
“I think it’s time that we fight, sir. It seems these pathetic champion-leveled Digimon are of no use to this team we’re trying to annihilate.”
“Quiet, Antiramon… our orders are very strict; Yurimon is to be found alive.”
“No, that’s quite all right, Tailmon. Antiramon just reminded me of something I wanted to experiment.”
Alphamon thought for a moment and turned away from the team, looking out the large-glassed window. Outside the fort was a large pit of flowing red lava, sliding up into the hefty volcano. Further from the volcano, green grass could be seen, although the closer it was to the volcano, the more the grass looked to be made of mere ashes. Alphamon could see a small digimon flying toward the window, and he walked towards the flying ball to hear what he had to say.
“Yurimon and Donni are headed here, sir!” he said, flying with excitement. “Shall I give them a warm welcome with the digimon I mentioned to you earlier?”
“Hmm… Alphamon thought for a quick moment and swift his hand in rejection. “Not yet; he’s an ultimate. But tell ya what… bring Kyuubimon to the plate; I’m sure this job is a piece of cake for her.”
“As you wish.” the digimon replied as the bat propelled his wing forward and bowed. The other digimon bowed as well and exited the room, preparing for their next job.
~*~*~*~*~
“Oh my, these poor plants…”
“Sorry to say this Yurimon, but I think we have more problems than the plants that are surrounded by a huge volcano… this doesn’t make sense, I thought Artic was supposed to be a cold place.”
Yurimon shrugged and kept walking behind Donni, eyeing her surroundings. Not far from where she was, on the left of her, was a small dandelion, softly pulling apart from the actual flower and moving with the wind. The digimon always had many different things running through her head, but at this point, she imagined the time she pulled apart rose petals and watched them blow away towards the beautiful mountains ahead.
Ah, that silly game, she thought as she continued following Donni. Can’t remember who I learned it from, but I remember exactly how it works. Imagine my prince in shining armour coming by to sweep me off my feet at any given minute. Then grab a nearby flower, pick the petals and begin. She loves me… she loves me not… She loves me… she loves me not…
“Is something wrong, Yurimon?”
“Huh??” Yurimon snapped out of her thoughts and blushed, looking down. “Oh, I’m sorry. It’s nothing.”
Donni raised an eyebrow and stopped walking. Yurimon wasn’t paying much attention to that small detail and almost bumped into Donni. “You sure? I could have sworn you were mumbling the silly game you play with a flower.”
At that point, her whole face was beet red.
“Haha, don’t worry about it.” Donni replied, resting her hands on her sides. “My friends used to do that all the time. As for me, not only did I think it was silly, I really didn’t have an eye on anyone.”
“Oh, I see.” Yurimon replied, smiling.
“I didn’t mean to offend you by saying it was silly, but I guess people play the game to make themselves feel better. I didn’t understand it. How does picking beautiful flowers tell you if your secret admirer loves you? Things like that can be deceiving.”
“I guess so…” the digimon said.
Between the two of them, things were silent, but Yurimon decided to stop the awkwardness by continue walking towards the volcano. Donni frowned, wondering if she said something she wasn’t supposed to, and continued walking. I know we just met, but this doesn’t seem like Yurimon at all. Maybe it’s the true her?? Maybe this whole conversation is something she’s been thinking about for awhile… I mean, she is a growing girl-- er, Digimon. She might really have feelings for someone…
Before Donni had a chance to collect her thoughts, a large boom was heard and a Digimon jumped up, landing towards Yurimon. The digimon make a quick left and tried to punch her, but with no luck.
“Kyuubimon, Champion.” The device said, startling Donni. “A Bewitching Beast Digimon. Main Attack is Fox Flame Dragon; alternative is the Demon Fireball.”
“Ah, lovely.” Donni said sarcastically. “Yo Yurimon, ready to digivolve? Looks a little too strong to be fighting in Rookie form.”
“Let’s go for it.” Yurimon replied, still trying to block Kyuubimon’s attacks.
“Well, lessee… we don’t want to waste much, just in case another digimon attacks while we’re on the search for the crest, so let’s go for digi armour.” Donni pressed a button on her device, and in result, it glowed a bright white. However, Donni realized Yurimon was not turning black.
“Hey, what’s going on?? You‘re supposed to be Princessmon!” Donni yelled out.
“I don’t know; I thought you decided to change your mind.” Yurimon replied, dodging another attack. She couldn’t hold off much longer; Kyuubimon was too fast. That’s when the digimon came up with an idea of why the digivolution wasn’t working. She ran towards Donni, waving her hands in front of her. “I have an idea; it worked before, why not now??”
“What? What are you talking about” Donni asked.
Yurimon came to a stop right in front of her and, once again, blushed a deep red. “And now, maybe it will be more memorable.” She pulled Donni closer and pressed her lips against the humans, the digivolution finally in effect.
I think I know how the crest of sincerity works. It’s like truth, honesty. And the digivolution might work depending on what feelings you have towards your partner. It simply needs to be the truth. How do I feel about Donni? It may seem a bit sudden, but I think there was a small saying humans used to say. The truth is…
“Yurimon Armour Digivolve to… Princessmon, The Revolutionary Queen of Truth!!”
Blushing, Donni smiled and crossed her arms. “That’s more like it.”
“You’re not going to interfere anymore.” Kyuubimon said. “My mission isn’t to finish you off, it’s to finish the human off.”
Donni’s eyes widened and balled her fists. “Of course, Alphamon is only going to kill me. He knows I’m alive.”
“No way!!” Princessmon yelled, pointing a finger at the digimon. “You’re not laying a HAND on Donni-chan!”
“No, I want to see what she’s going to do.” Donni said quietly. Princessmon slowly put her finger down and turned to her partner, who was in rage.
“You’re not being rational about this!” she said. “Kyuubimon could kill you, you know!”
“I may not believe in the game of love and flowers…” Donni said, turning a jade green once again. It was Princessmon’s turn for her eyes to go wide. “… And I know it may sound bizarre, but I believe in destiny. And ours is to either save the world or destroy it. Nowhere did it say I was gonna die. As long as I am breathing, I am not going to give up on the future of the digital world.”
Kyuubimon’s tails sparked up and little balls of flame started to grow bigger as she threw them at Donni. “Demon Fireball!”
I’m not playing cheerleader anymore, either. I’m sorry Princessmon, but I’m going to fight. I can’t watch you get hurt again. I can’t sit by, kicking myself because I couldn’t do anything about it.
The fire struck Donni, but miraculously, she wasn’t screaming in pain. Turning her arms over to make sure she wasn’t burning to death, Donni smiled and looked around. From outside the fire, a blast could be heard, followed by lava settling by her feet. “An eruption?” she thought out loud. A faint red light was seen and it glowed brighter as it reached to Donni.
“It is time, Donni.” the device said. “You can now digivolve to the legendary warrior of flame, Honomon.”
“Wait, what happened to Agnimon?” Donni thought out loud. She pushed that thought aside as the pressed a button on her device, the spirit being sucked into it. She surrounded herself into a giant ball of fire, and looked at her hands. On the right was the device she carried ever since she arrived to the Digital World. On the left, blue data surrounding itself on her hand.
“All right, time to fight! And this time, no holding back!” Donni scanned the data on her device and raised it to the air. “Spirit… Evolution!!”
“Huh? What was that??” Princessmon shielded herself with her hands as Kyuubimon stepped back a few. The flames died down and a digimon replaced Donni. Long black and red hair, armour on the top half of her body, and boots with long claws, Princessmon couldn’t help but look to the side. The digimon was stunningly beautiful. Mysterious too, seeing how she had a mask on, covering her face. On her bare skin, white stripes were decorated. She positioned herself to fight and turned to Princessmon. “All right! Told you I wouldn’t be the cheerleader anymore!”
Smiling, Princessmon nodded and turned to Kyuubimon. “Looks like you were right.”
“Well, that just makes things more interesting, if I do say so myself.” Kyuubimon said, fire emitting from her tails once more. “Demon Fireball!” The fire shot towards Honomon, but she quickly swerved to the left and pointed a finger at Kyuubimon, a spark of flame releasing from her fingertip. “Flame Point!” she yelled, and a wave of fire charged towards Kyuubimon. The digimon smirked a bit as the flame died down around her.
“I may have an idea.” Princessmon said, jumping in. She couldn’t take her eyes off Honomon, but she couldn’t stand there and watch her fight on her own. “Do an attack. You’ll catch on in a moment.”
“Gotcha.” Honomon replied, and started glowing a light red. She shut her eyes for a moment and quickly put her hands in front of her, pointing them at Kyuubimon. “Flaming Spirit!” she yelled. The aura surrounding her shot out of her and charged towards Kyuubimon.
Looking up to the sky, Yurimon’s eyes glowed a yellow and that familiar cloud of darkness appeared from the heavens once again. “The Gods of Truth!” Lighting started striking from all directions as Honomon took deep breaths, watching to see what would happen.
The spirit shot into Kyuubimon and the digimon screamed, kneeling to the floor. The fire grew larger as a lightning bolt struck down on her, a large white light spreading from where the digimon stood. The light died down, and all that remained was a digiegg, which floated from the sky.
Honomon de-volved back to Donni and Princessmon did the same as she was reverted to Yurimon. The digimon looked up as the human smiled, still taking deep breaths. “Told you I wouldn’t be cheerleader anymore. But look on the bright side-- destiny is on our side. Five digimon defeated…
It’s so beautiful… the digiegg floating to the sky… it’s almost like… those flowers. The precious flowers… flying to the blue.
“Lessee… we have Growlmon…”
She loves me…
“Then Kabuterimon…”
She loves me not…
“Greymon…”
She loves me…
“And Togemon…”
She loves me not…
“And now… Kyuubimon!” Donni finished, watching the egg disappear to the sky.
She loves me. She really loves me.
