Mirror's Manifesto
If you're wondering why I argue the way that I do on one of the ED forums, this may help. If you're snooping for personal tidbits, this probably will be disappointing. Check the first entry for more info! ^_^ Feel free to comment, too.
So then what?
Alrighty, abortions are bad-bad. What do I propose?

Prevention is the first step. If someone is absolutely certain that under no circumstances they would wish to have a child, sterilization is the obvious solution. I think there should be government funding of a program that provides free sterilization for anyone who wants it. If you don't want to be sterilized or plan to have a child later, but aren't willing to go through with a pregnancy no matter what, don't have sex. It's that simple.

There are no absolutely sure-fire ways to prevent pregnancies with normal protection, but there are a few options. Condoms, "the pill," spermicides and other forms of protection have some success. None of them is guaranteed, but if used properly and jointly, there is a reasonable amount of anti-pregnancy insurance. This option would be only for those who plan to have a child at a later point but are willing to run the risk of an unwanted pregnancy.

So, the options are sterilization, abstinence and protection. These go for men, too. Anyone who feels that they're ready for sex must be ready to deal with a pregnancy.

I understand that in spite of everyone's best efforts, there will still be some unwanted pregnancies. There would be very few if everyone followed the above guidelines, but I'm dreaming, right?

So the kids are born, but the moms don't want them. They must be put up for adoption if the mother refuses to keep them. Adopting a child should be made much easier, and putting one up for adoption should be made harder, especially for those who can afford to keep their kids. It's not pleasant, but it's necessary. The adoption system needs desperately to be improved, but the state of the system is no justification for continuing to abort.

I feel I should mention rape cases, because I know you're all thinking about them. Very few rapes result in pregnancies. That's great, but the few that do aren't reasons to kill the resulting child. It's sad that the mother had to go through that, but her pain is certainly not a reason to kill her baby.

A taste of what's to come...
I don't know yet. We'll see what my odd brain comes up with.
