It was summer. The summer after Noel finally got her dream guy. Her life was perfect...
The last day of school.
Noel and Brendan hugged and kissed and promised to keep in contact during summer. As soon as she got home, she got online.
brendansgirl&3: hey!
noelsguy: hey
brendansgirl&3: So whatcha wanna do next week?
noelsguy: well im going camping with my family so I can't hang this week
brendansgirl&3: Ooh okay. what about the week after that?
noelsguy: Can't. My parents want to take me to San Fransisco to stay with my aunt for the week.
noelsguy: I can text you for plans sometime during summer.
brendansgirl&3: Okay. :]
brendansgirl&3: I g2g. ily! byee!
noelsguy: ily2. bye!
Noel got curious. Hey can't spend one day with her for three weeks? But it was with family, so she just blew it off.
While she couldn't hang with her boyfriend, she could hang with her best friend.
*Ring Ring!!*
"Hello?" "Hey Sam. It's Noel. Wanna hang this week?" "Sure! Wanna go to the beach?" "Hell yeah!" "Sweet. We can spend the week at my aunts beach house." "Awesome!" "Yup. Oh man. I'm so full. I just ate like, 7 pieces of pizza. I have a food baby going on." "Ahh. That's pretty great. " "Yeah. So I guess I'll see you on Monday so we can leave. Bye!" "Bye!"
Noel was SUPER excited. She totally for got about her boyfriend. She went over to Sam's house with all of her stuff she needed. They were on the road. "We have to make a stop. I need some sunglasses." "Okay. I need some too."
They had to have tried on over 30 pairs of sunglasses until they found the perfect ones. Sam got green splattered ray bands and Noel got turquoise checkered ones.
They got back on the road and in 4 hours, they finally got there. The beach house was beautiful. It was a two story with glass windows, a hot tub, 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a huge living room, a huge kitchen, and a great view of the beach. It was the perfect party house. "Duude. We should TOTALLY have a beach party here." "But who would we invite? Everyone we know lives 5 hours away.."
"That's why we call now, and tell them to be here tomorrow. " she smiled. "You are the smartest partier everr, Sam. " "I know." she smirked.
They called everyone in their address book [especially boys] and told them to invite 2 more friends.
When they were done, the went and tanned on the beach.
"Hey Sam.." "Yeah?" "I don't think Brendan likes me anymore.. " "Of course he does. Why else would he still be going out with you?" "I don't know.. It just.. seems like he doesn't want to be with me.." "What makes you say that??" "He had plans for the first 2 weeks of summer. He can't hang with his own girlfriend!!" "So? Maybe you guys need some time away from each other." "Well.. maybe.. " "Just forget about him. We're gonna have a TON of guys to keep your mind off of him." she winked.
The next day, everyone was there at about 5:00. There had to be over 300 people there. There was a bonfire down on the beach. Noel just sat near the bonfire while everyone else was partying either on the beach or by the house. There was about 20 people in the hot tub. About 1/3 of the party were sucking face with they're boyfriends.. or girlfriends.. or playing spin the bottle. A lot of the people were drunk. Noel just sat there by the fire in her sweatshirt and shorts.
A guy came up to her. "Can I sit here?" "Uhm.. sure." They sat there in silence, trying to warm up until he finally said something. "Soo.. What's your name?" "Noel." "Oh! You're the one that's helping with this party!" "Yep.. What's your name?" "Ryan." "How come I never see you around school?" "Me and Sam used to be really good friends. I actually just live down the street from here." "Oh. That's cool." "Yep.. Wow. This is really warm. You wanna take a walk closer to the water?" "Sure." They walked and kicked water at each other. He then grabbed her hand. Then it hit her. She already HAS a boyfriend. "Uhm.. I have to go.. " She ran off into one of the four bathrooms. Splashing her face with water, she checked to see if her boyfriend had texted her. 0 new messages. Maybe she should just forget about him.. maybe she should just party with Ryan. Then she felt something. Her phone had vibrated meaning she had a message. "We need to talk." it said. It was Brendan. "Yeah?" she replied. "I think we should take a break.." "What do you mean??" "I want to see other people." Noel read it and cried. She looked around the bathroom for something sharp to maybe kill herself. But, she resorted to just going to talk with her best friend.
She went to look for Sam. She found her in the circle for spin the bottle. She pulled Sam up from her spot and led her away from other people. "Sam.. Brendan just broke up with me. OVER A TEXT MESSAGE!" she cried. "Oh Noel. I told you to just forget about him! It's SUMMER! You don't need him!" Sam hugged her.
"I guess you're right.. " "Hell yeah i'm right. Look, when school comes around, he'll be begging to take you back. Summer lovin' aye? Why don't you find another lover." Noel went back outside to look for Ryan. He was sitting by the fire. When he saw her he stood up and apologized. "Look, I didn't mean to freak you out when I grabbed your hand. I just.. like you and.. I'm sorry.." He sees that her face is all red. "Hey, have you been crying?? What's wrong?" He puts his arm around her. "What's wrong, Noel?" "It's.. my boyfriend.." "Wait.. you have a boyfriend?" "Had. He just broke up with me. " "Ooh.. I'm so sorry.. Was it because of me?" "No.. He just said he wanted to see other people.. over a text message." "Oh.. ouch.. Well.. you don't need him!" "You're right.. I'm already over it.. I think... " She grabbed his hand. She was still really hurt.. but she didn't want Ryan to see. She started to cry a little but she turned away so he couldn't see, but he knew something was wrong. He turned so he could see her face. He wiped away her tears with his thumbs. "Everything is going to be fine. I promise." He held her in his arms for the rest of the night.
The next morning, they woke up to a whole house full of drunk people passed out. Sam rushed over. "Noel, we HAVE to get this place cleaned up! .. Ryan?" "Hey Sam!" He said as they hugged. "Great. You can help too. We HAVE to get these people out and this place neat and tidy again." They woke up everybody with a loud blast of music. "You all have to get the hell out of here!!" screamed Sam. They shoved everyone out the door and off of the beach. Then they had to do the cleaning. "Okay. Which one of you two doesn't puke at the sight of puke?" Noel and Ryan looked at each other. "Fine. I'll do it." Ryan sighed. "Okay. Then Noel, you go clean up out back. That means picking up the trash on the beach and cleaning out the jacuzzi. Oh, and the kitchen is pretty nasty. Got it?" "Yep. But what does that leave you to clean?" "The living room, the bathrooms, and the front lawn. Oh, and I have to do all the vacuuming." She rolled her eyes.
They were done at about 10 at night so they decided to get in the jacuzzi. "So.. are you two.. " Sam said as she looked back and forth between Noel and Ryan. "Are we what?" they both said at the same time. "You know.. Dating.. ?" "I guess.. " She smiled. Ryan got the happiest look on his face. -buzzzz- "Sam, was that my phone or yours?" "Mine. Can you get it?" "Sure."
She hopped up out of the jacuzzi and got her phone. She looked to see who it was from. Brendan. Why would Sam be talking to Brendan? "Hey babe. I dumped Noel. Wanna hang next week?" A silent tear rolled down Noels cheek. She wiped it away and handed Sam her phone. She read it and looked over to see Noel glaring at her. "Oh.. Noel i'm so sorry..." Noel ran into the house. Ryan ran after her. "Babe? What's wrong??" "it's.. nothing.." "I know there's something wrong. What is it??" "Brendan dumped me so he could be with Sam." Tears started rolling down her face again. "Oh, babe.." He hugged her. "I have an idea. Go pack all of your stuff. We're getting outta here." "What do you mean?" "I mean you better go get your stuff so we can leave!" "To where?" "I'm not quite sure yet.. but we can't stay here. I can't see you sad anymore." "Okay.." They both gathered up their things and were on the road. The next thing they know, they're in Vallejo, California. Ryan pulled into the parking lot of Six Flags. "What are we doing here?" she asked. "Well.. I thought you needed some fun to get you happy again and we just happened to be near it so i thought, what the hell!" She giggled. "Wow.."
They walked through the park holding hands. Ryan paid for everything. They went on a few rides and watched the Shouka show. They were walking, eating funnel cake, when Noel had a question. "Ryan..?" "Yeah?" "Why do you like me?" Ryan tossed his plate and fork into the nearest trash can. He turned to her and said, "I don't think I like you.. " Noel got a confused look on her face. "I think i'm in love with you." A grin stretched across Noels face as she blushed. All she could do was look down at her feet. "Noel, I love you because your everything i've ever wanted. You're gorgeous, you're smart, you're not a plastic girl that has a credit card for a brain, and I just feel different when i'm around you. I do love you, Noel." Ryan gazed at her, leaned in, and kissed her.
Noel realized that she had to solve it between her and Sam. She was her best friend and she wouldn't have even met Ryan if it weren't for her. She went to the beach house, hoping to find Sam. She rang the doorbell. No answer. She knocked on the door. No answer. She went around back and looked through the sliding glass door. She suddenly regretted it.
She saw Brendan on top of Sam, both of them topless. She tried to stifle her crying, but apparently that didn't work too well when Sam heard her. She jumped up and tried grabbing her top and ran towards the door. Noel had started running towards the beach. She didn't want to talk or deal with anyone right now.
Sam soon came near her.
"Noel.. I'm so sor-" Noel cut her off.
"Save it." she said focusing her eyes on the sea.
"It wasn't like that, Noel. He said he wanted to talk to me about how he could make up with you so he came over and.. and.." she trailed off.
"And what? Started ******** you on accident? Things like that don't happen. I know he was seeing you behind my back. Don't even try to ******** lie. You're such a b***h to drag me all the way out here and then try to persuade me into breaking up with the guy i'm in love with so you can ******** him without feeling guilty. So go and ******** him. Like you were planning to do." Noel shot back. She got up and stormed back to the car Ryan was waiting for her in. "Are you okay?" he asked. "Can you please just drive me home?" she said quietly. "Yeah. Sure."
She tried to get to her room fast so she wouldn't have to deal with her mom, but her plan didn't work.
"Hey sweetie. Did you have fun?"
"Yeah.." she said as she ran into her room. She threw herself down on her bed.
*knock knock*
She had an IM.
rockerdude: Hey. You okay?
brendansgirl<3: I've been better. Who is this?
brendansgirl<3: brb I have to change my name on here.
teenagedirtbag7: Okay. So who is this?
rockerdude: It's Ryan. Sam gave me your IM thing
teenagedirtbag7:Oh. Okay.
rockerdude: Soo.. How are you doing?
teenagedirtbag7: idk. I mean, I like you, but.. he was perfect for me..
rockerdude: ooh.. I get it. sorry. i won't bother you anymore.

Noel sighed. She just wanted to forget this whole thing ever happened.
She began to think back to her last school year.
She was just some nerdy girl with one friend who wasn't ever noticed. Daydreaming about the perfect life, knowing it wasn't real.
Her life was simple. Then one day she got noticed.
And everything went uphill..
And came crashing down.
