aaaaaGuns firing; women screaming; a motherly smile fading into oblivion. Eyes that burned of rage and fire; crimson stained steel; the calm motions of the opposing officer.
aaaaaThe girl woke, sitting up straight in her cot. The smell of coffee laced with rum stung her nose.
aaaaa"What is it, thirteen?"
aaaaaThe demon sighed. Her eyes had the faintest luminescence in the dark. The room, or cell as she had named it, was barely large enough to hold the "bed" and two folding chairs; in one of which sat the man who guarded the outside world from her; whose nasty habit of drinking while on the job had gained him the position.
aaaaa"Answer me demon."
aaaaa"A dream, Sergeant, nothing more," she hissed. With little effort the man's steaming mug as empty in her hands. The girl gulped it quickly, waiting for the rum's bite of fire in her stomach. After it hit the demon shook it off as best she could before asking the time.
aaaaa"Oh five thirty." Thirteen snorted. "I am not due to the hall for another half hour, would it be permitted for me to go to the mess hall then, for I have not eaten since lunch yesterday."
aaaaaThe man clicked on his radio. A satisfying buzz met him at the other end. After a seres of numbers were released the correct answer was given and her guard asked his own question in code. The girl could have deciphered them if she had wanted but she already knew what was being said and had no need. After a moment had passed the man entered a code into the door and it swung open. "You have permission to go to mess only, you must stay there even after you are finished eating."
aaaaa"Somehow I figured," the demon muttered, turning and walking down the hallway with her long strides it would take little time. The doors swung open fore her and the busy cafeteria scene spread before her. The line for food was very long and if she were to wait she would undoubtedly be late. That wasn't tolerated.
aaaaaThere was always the backup plan.
aaaaa"Davis!" she shouted loudly, her could voice caught much more attention then she had intended but it got the job done. She saw the exact person she was looking for wave. She didn't approach, but instead clapped her hands together and raised them above her head. The doctor understood and tossed a roll. The demon caught it with with ease and crunched the day old bread between her teeth.
aaaaaOld Sean, always wiling it help her out. The meal was much more then she needed anyway. A single piece of crusty roll was plenty for her.
