Miscellaneous: Zetsu appears venus-fly trap-like in appearance. His main body is split into two halfs, both light and dark. Zetsu appears to extend a sixth-type sense from his body to the area around him, rather than by relying on his eyesight alone. Also his different halves seem to have different personalities, with the black side speaking in a strange, unusual manner. He also seems to be cannibalistic, as he was once ordered to eat the bodies of Sasori's dead subordinates.
Biography: Zetsu was born a normal boy in the center of Kusagakure and was raised to be a great shinobi. Never sad but always cheerful, Zetsu got along perfectly with his teammates. He scored high on all of his tests and learned all of his assigned jutsu fairly easily. He passed the Chunin exams at the age of thirteen on his first try and was promoted to Chunin and assigned a squad. He cared for this squad with his life.
One day, while out on a simple mission with his squad, one of his youngsters got sick and just plain died on the job. Zetsu took full responsibility for this and felt great grief. He brought the dead girl to her home and explained the tragedy to her parents. They were upset but told Zetsu not to blame himself and explained that the young girl had been sick for some time. It was an act of fate.
He went to his parent's house that night to visit his sick father, who had been diagnosed with cancer on the day of Zetsu's birth. When he got there his mother was crying. His father had died just moments before Zetsu arrived. It was at that moment that Zetsu felt something inside him that he had never felt before: Rage. He threw a merciless tantrum, hurling is father's body across the room and smashing his mother against the wall. When he saw what he had done, a new feeling caught him: Sorrow, then... Hatred.
He fled Kusagakure after killing his mother and sought refuge in a large cave just off the country's eastern border. It was here that he met an old Sage who explained to him that Zetsu had many emotions built up inside him, some good, some bad. He explained that, if Zetsu allowed him to, he could fix it so that Zetsu could tame these emotions. Of course Zetsu agreed and the ceremony began. After the seals were drawn and chakra was stored, Zetsu blacked out.
When he woke the Sage was gone. He felt different however, like he used to when he taught his classes. Happy. "Well it's 'bout time!" he heard a farmilliar voice say. Try as he may he couldn't find the source of the voice but he knew he had heard it before. It was the voice he had always heard in his head, his conscience, only this time it seemed angry. When he too a look in a puddle it became clear through his reflexion. He had been left in two...
Over time he grew to live with this other side of himself. He soon invented a way to sense the area around him, much like a sunflower plant that can always turn towards the sun, no matter where it is. He created a cover of sorts, a venus fly trap- like armor that covers him entirely or partially, whatever he wishes. It is made from his skin cells but can harden is he wishes for extra protection. Due to being left alone most of his life, he developed a cannibalistic lifestyle, eating whatever he could to survive.
