when all goes down and seems to fall, just smile and endure it ^^
I just saw a movie that really touched me...it made me realise just how bad some things are in today's world...and I needed to write about it...so badly that if I don't, I think I'll explode!

the movie was called A Girl Like me: The Gwen Araujo Story and it really touched me. Tears were in my eyes a few times because of this movie. It shows the cruelty of people who are afraid of difference in the world, particularily in the sexual field. Gwen's real name was Eddie Araujo, and he was a transvestite. He wore makeup and dresses since he was a young boy, or should I say girl? She was a very sweet person, always caring for others and helping them with their problems, she was the best friend a person could ask for. She never did anybody any harm, but that didn't stop the boys from killing her. They beat her for five hours...then they tied a rope around her neck...and tortured her...before burying her in a field. Nobody could have guessed that from finding out that she was actually a man, in body not in spirit or mind, she would be killed.

I think that people like this need to learn to get over the differences in the world...nobody has the same fingerprint or the same appearance, so why should it matter if a man wants to be a woman or if a woman wants to be a man? We can change our hair style without their being any sort of problem, without being questioned, so why then can't we change out gender without people looking at us as if we were odd or different in any way shape or form?

This world is full of people who believe that to change your gender is wrong...but they have no idea just how grotesque believing that is. It's my belief that if you want to change your gender you can.

Gwen's case hopefully taught America something about acceptance...and if it didn't...then we truelly are a sick and sad bunch of people. The day we learn to stop being superficial and accept people for their personalities, that's when we'll all start going up on the ladder of evolution. Right now, we're all worse then the cavemen that are considered so low on the evolutionary charts.

Wisen up people...Gwen suffered through a lot...and it's because of her that I'm going to start sticking up for the gays more then I already do...and the transvestites as well.

Rest in peace Gwen...you went through a lot to change the world...and now you should rest.
