A little something I made for my story on Gaia, A Bloody Week in Paris. Thus far its the longest story I've ever attempted to compleate in a short ammount of time. So far I have 4,651 words written, but this story promises to be at least a ten parter, and I'm averaging about five pages per installment. So this is a pretty big project for me.
The purpose of this huge project, you ask? My goal in life is to become a published novelist. In order to accomplish that I need to be able to chrun out chapter stories about every six months, or once a year. This may not be a compleate novel (my current guesstimate for the story is 35 pages) but its the first step to creating a compleate novel.
I've already learned that there is a big difference between short stories of a few pages and big, chapter stories. For one thing I'm finding more loose ends that need tieing up. For another, I have to maintain story flow, and make sure the plot is entertaining throughout. Holding my reader's attention is a big challenge.
The story follows a young vampire called Jean-Babtiste as he returns to his home in Paris after the French revoultion. He seeks to revisit his past, but along the way uncovers the almost forgotten secrets of his past. Sweept up in the events of the past, Jean unknowingly alters his future forever.
I'll probably write more entries on this series as it moves along...
