The Life and Times of Avani
It's Avani. How can it NOT be good?
08/09/05
Damn, I was so busy yesterday that I didn't get a chance to write anything in my journal! Luckily, any homework I have left isn't due until Monday, so I can write something today. mrgreen So, you get to hear about my classes. Hurrah.

Block A - Science 10 - Annas

As I expected, this class was pretty good, and I look forward to this course. Mr. Annas made fun of Mr. Yip. Isn't that awesome? We're going to learn about the Earth first, hurrah. We also got a big, old textbook to keep all year. It has everything. Information = Orgasmic. heart

Block B - Planning 10 - Roberts
Apparently, I don't have Thorburn until like... January or something. At first, it seemed okay. I was around a few people I knew. Then, we had to do one of those things where we go around and find people who match certain traits on a given list. I freaking hate doing that. I started to get uncomfortable and eventually just broke down. I ended leaving the class for a few minutes, but I was much better slightly after.

Block C - French 10 - Perreten
Perreten wasn't nearly as bad as I thought she would be. She was actually okay. The only thing I didn't like about this class was how crowded it was. Oh, well. I got my new French book. It's spiffy. heart

Block D - Visual Arts 10: Drawing and Painting - Lawrence
Jess sits next to me in this class, but she's transferring by next week. With luck, by then Amy will be in my class. So, we had to do a sketch of an alien pet. I was pretty much just scribbling some trippy thing with a million eyes and boingy spring legs. It looks like crap. Mr. Lawrence said it was "A" work though. I guess creative things drawn like a** get a good mark. Awesome.

Block E - Mathermatics 10 - Purvis
Purvis seemed really nice, probably because we were so quiet and attentive. Because we were so good, she let us sit wherever we wanted to. We got our new math books. If I make a cover for it by Monday, I'll get 10 bonus marks. Yay! While she was passing things out, she smacked my arm with her preggy belly. It hurt. gonk

Block F - English 10 - Chow
This class doesn't seem too bad. I sit next to Bertha, and am surrounded by a handful of people I know. We did a vocabulary / comprehension quiz today. Not for marks, just for reference. I rushed through it for no apparent reason. I think I did quite well in the vocabulary section (3 were total guesses, a couple took some etymology and logic) and my usual "meh" for reading comprehension.

Block G - Physical Education 10 - Some dude
Waller's still on maternity leave, so some dude whose name I can't recall is teaching us. After sorting out our rows, talking, and stretching, we could do anything. I ended up playing Tennis with Amy. We suck, but it was bloody fun. mrgreen

Block H - Social Studies 10 Enriched - Clutchey
I like this class because I've been with almost everyone in the class since grade 8, so I'm more-or-less comfortable around them. We were discussing identity and stuff. I answered one whole question. I also learned that I can't pronounce "controversial" very well. Damn. I got to see photos of Mrs. Clutchey's baby girl. She's so adorable. heart

And that's a summary of my first two days, pretty much.

WESLEY LOOKS LIKE JESUS.

~ Song Excerpt of the Day ~

Don't think twice before you listen to your heart
Follow the trace for a new start

What you need
And everything you feel
Is just a question of the deal

In the eye of storm you'll see a lonely dove
The experience of survival is the key
To the gravity of love
