Ike is literally as big as Texas. It is one big honking hurricane. So, some updates for you. One of the people I thought would evacuate didn't, and none of my school friends did, either. Some of them have pretty flimsy houses, too. My friend Vanilla Fizz is currently camping out in her mom's office in the airport. 0_o Ooh, lots of windows. Very safe.

In my old neighborhood, there was a cemetery behind us (I kid you not!), a ditch, and then a fence that cut off the cemetery and the ditch from our backyards. There was a fence on the south side of it, cutting off our cul-de-sac from construction going on out there (it was a fairly new neighborhood), and we got a text from one of my neighbors (one of the ones I thought would evac. as soon as possible), and the fence to their backyard is DOWN. On the ground. There is NO FENCE. Crazy-licious, huh? 0_0 And these aren't, like... little whitewashed picket fences. These are huge, monster plywood fences. ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THE GROUND. And of course, Dad had the extreme sense of propriety to ask her if there were any dead bodies floating (the cemetery is flooded, apparently). We haven't gotten a response yet.
