Thing seem so different... but come to think of it, they were like that before, nee?
I just realized something very odd (saying this ahead of time, don't even ask why I was thinking this), but when you meet a person, and get to know them as a friend, you only see the person they are at that moment, never the person they were before. Sometimes you only know a person a certain way for years, and then they begin to act differently for whatever reason, but nothing is wrong. At first you think "Hey, what the ******** is going on with them?", and then you realize that they aren't acting differently at all, it's just that the only person you've actually known was the person who was your friend, not the person before they were your friend. Before they met you, they probably acted differently (not drastically, but still slightly different), because they weren't around you. in that same sense they act differently around other friends because of how they impacted on that person's life. But you can never really know the person they were before, because no matter what, now that they've met you, their lives have been changed. The memories you've made and shared together will remain there forever, so there really is no going back, is there? Even if they drift away from you eventually, they'll still have times when they think "Hey, I remember when I used to hang out with him/her. Haha that time when we did blah blah blah..."

You never can go back to the person you once were, because those memories are what makes you the person you are now. For better or for worse.
