The Angel's Fire
Chapter 5
"Demons are real?" I asked. Kirai nodded.
"Very much so. I was one once....as was your father."
I looked at my dad.
"YOU were a demon?"
He looked at my mom, took her hand and frowned a little.
"Yeah.....but it wasn't my fault." I could tell that upset him.
"Does Damu rememebr you mom?" I asked.
"No Purge. If Damu DID remember her, he wouldn't be trying to kill her. Damu loved your mother." Kirai said.
"How could a demon love a mortal?" I asked.
"To make a long story short, he was born a demon, got killed because of me, became an angel, then when he was about to die again, Kirai died to protect him giving him her demonic powers. To save your father, Damu gave his soul back to the demon world. Now he's king and out to kill me I guess." My mom said.
"Basically." My dad said.
"Purge...... We can't let on to him that we know. You have to pretend you don't know anything about this. Ok?" Kirai asked.
I nodded.

"Damitri! What just happened there?!" Donna snapped.
Damu looked at her.
"Um......I don't know......" He whispered.
"Why didn't you tell me you could do magic?!" She snapped, but with a smile. Damu blinked.
"Magic........she believes in magic! Perfect!"
"Oh.....well....I thought you'd think I was weird..."
"No! Magic is amazing! You're even cooler then I thought!" She smiled.
Damu smirked.
"Hey, promise me you wont tell anyone about my........magic. Ok Donna?" Damu asked.
"Why? I think everyone should know!" She laughed.
"I have to do it or she won't shut up!"
Damu placed his lips on hers.
Donna's eyes grew wide when he kissed her, then she melted into his arms.
When they parted, Damu looked into her eyes.
"Shut up for a little while ok?" He whispered.
Her eyes were glazed over my emotion.
"Sure........." She breathed.
"Come on, let's go see where Purge went off to." Damu grabbed her hand.
"That..........was REVOLTING!"

I was outside when Damu arrived....with Donna!
"Donna doesn't know........." I thought.
"Purge! There you are!" Donna smirked.
Damu looked at me sharp, I scowled.
"What's up Purge buddy?" He smiled.
"Donna, go inside. Mom wants to talk to you." I said. Donna frowned and walked in. Kirai walked outside.
"Hello." She smiled, but I could see in her eyes, pain as she looked at Damu.
"Good evening." Damu said.
"I'm.........Kirai." She said and shook his hand.

Once again came the exploding pain. Images flashed through Damu's mind. He screamed loudly and collapsed to the ground.
"Why the hell does this keep happening?!" He screamed out loud.

Kirai backed off of him, not shocked, but she looked as if she was expecting it.
"What's going on?" I asked as I watched Damu on the ground, curled up in a ball of pain, tears pouring out of his eyes.
"I'll explain later Purge. Donna's coming back." Kirai said.
"Damitri!" She screamed kicking the door open. She ran to his side like she did the first time.
"What's going on?" My mom ran out.
"Dawn, come with me." Kirai led her inside.
Damu stopped screaming finally.
"Donna, take care of him, I'll be right back." I follwed Kirai inside.
"So, what's going on?" I asked.
"As much as this hurts me to say, we have to kill Damu again."
"So, you hurt him?" My mom asked.
"No. The only way to kill him now is for him to remember about the past. It's like emneisa. When something is said or done that triggers a memory, it hurts him. And if he remembers everything.......he's become a soul."
"A lost soul?" My mom whispered.
"Yes.....again. It hurts me badly, but we have to do it." Kirai said.
"You still love him?" My mom asked.
"More then anything Dawn......that's why I have to do this. I can't stand Damu like this."
"Hey! What if we just make him rememebr you guys, but not everything! He'll remember enough to remain alive but not kill us!" I said.
"That's the thing Purge, as soon as Damu remembers his love for Dawn.....he'll eaithar kill himself or die right then and there." Kirai sighed.
I sat back down, out of ideas.
"So.........he's not a bad guy?" I asked.
"No........he was the many few demons who had a soul. He saved my life more times then I can count." My mom said.
I began grinding my teeth.
"He saved my mother.........there HAS to be a way to save him....." I thought.
I stood up.
"I'll be back."
"Where're you going?" My mother stood up instantly.
"Library....calm down." I left.

"Kirai............she........she's here?" Damu thought remembering the kiss he gave her last time he saw her.
"Kirai!" He gasped.
He tried standing, but fell instantly.
"Forget about her Damu! She doesn't love you! She wants to kill you! Focus! Focus! You are here to kill Dawn Nightshade! Kirai is nothing!" Kosa screamed at him.
"You're right my lord......I will not forget again." Damu told him.
"Damitri! You alright?!" Donna asked.
"Fine." He whispered and kissed her cheek.
