It's so funny. In Canada, our elections came and went, and we hardly cared. The same old droning and dull candidates.. But my family and I sat glued to the tv, hearts pounding in our chests to see who the next American president would be... My mother cried, while I had an immense weight off my heart. Obama has charisma, and he's an amazing human being. Human. Being. He's genuine, and warm. While McCain spent all his time bashing Obama's character, Obama took the high road. He took it with dignity and a smile, doing nothing more than simply shrugging it off and pressing matters on the campaign trail instead of encouraging comments threatening violence towards his opponent. As was said, McCain wasn't his enemy, just his opponent. After eight years of Bush, America did not need more of the same disaster, and that's what McCain would have been. I'm so happy, but I'm scared too.. I can imagine those same people who screamed 'KILL HIM' at McCain campaigns trying to assassinate Obama... It's really terrifying.. but for now I'm going to allow myself to be happy about this. I know I'm not the only one, however, uneasy about the fate of Obama now.
