Chronicles of Claive Ilusta
The Journal and log of Claive Ilusta, Kithnalian Immigrant
Homecoming (Chapter 8)
I didn't know when it was that I woke up, but I looked around and realized I was in my bed at my house. Shayra was sitting in a chair next to my bed, snoring softly. "Popper. Hey, Popper." I said weakly, but she didn't stir. "Popper!" She snapped awake and looked at me. "What happened?" I asked.
"Claive! I'm so glad you're okay!" she cried. I heard running footsteps, and Doriyan, wearing a big smile, screeched to a stop at my door. Chai came in a short while later. "I repeat: what happened? Where are my brother and sisters?" Doriyan's smile slipped from his face, and he solemnly answered, "They're gone, bro. I am so sorry."
"Damn it." I muttered. "I couldn't protect them."
"I feel your loss," Chai told me, "but it's because of you that we're alive."
"Yeah, Fluffy. We were unarmed and outnumbered fifty-to-one, and you single-handedly saved us." Shayra added.
"What did I do?" I asked her.

"After you screamed at the big one, you began transforming into a Werefox. A group swarmed over you, but you threw them off like they were rag dolls. Then, you were jumping and dashing around, wildly tearing apart everything around us like a homicidal blur. When the demons around us looked like they had gone through a wood chipper the big one charged and grappled you. You bit its throat out, and when it reeled back, you tore off one of its arms and beat it to death with it. After it was bludgeoned beyond recognition, you reverted to your Human state and collapsed. Doriyan carried you back here, and I cleaned you up and put you to bed, where you've been asleep for the past day and a half."
"I had no idea I had that sort of power in my Lycan form."
"You were a sight to behold, bro. I was almost afraid of you." Doriyan said. I tried to sit up, but my body ached and felt like lead as I fell backward. "Crap. I've never felt this bad after a transformation. It's like I got hit by a bus while recovering from the worst hangover in existence."
"Well, that moment of extreme stress threw off your natural cycle. Your body will have to readjust. For now, though, you just get some rest, cuz you sure as hell earned it." Shayra told me. She closed the door as she and the others left, and I fell back to sleep.
