Running From Truth
So many times people put down other people because their
running from truth; that they think they are useless
wastes of space. This, in my opinion, is sad. I can't say
everyone's like that, and I can't judge people. I'll be
one of the first to admit I've said my fair share of put
downs, but I really think people need to think twice about
this.

I mean, I had this random thought proccess today when i
got home, all the school shootings in history had to start
somewhere. But where? Well I'll bet almost anything that
most (if not all) of them had something to do with the
fact that someone made them feel inadequent.

The way I see it is that some people are either equipped
to handle things like being made fun of, or they've
learned it over years of experience.

When I was younger, one of the most important things to me
was being popular. I wanted to be the prettiest, the
smartest, the most athletic, and the overal best. One day,
when i was in about 5th grade we had a test similar to the
ISTEP or GQE tests we take at Wawasee High school, and I
remember that i was in the hallway during a break and a
random thought popped into my head. I wasn't born a
popular kid, so I can never become one because no matter
what I do someone wont like it. And I believe that's very
true and the sooner people learn it, the better.

There are more stories behind my 'rise to individuality',
but they would just bore you or sound like i'm
complaining; but I will never complain about my days of
insecurity that have past and are to come, because with
each and every snide comment or crude remark that I
overlook or live through, I become stronger as a whole.

I used to feel like I was a bunch of peices to a jig-saw
puzzle and none of them fit quite right. But when I went
to Deeper Life church camp 2 sumers ago, I found out that
sometimes you can't solve the whole puzzle by yourself,
and that sometimes, things wont make sense. But if you
just give up, you'll never solve the problem and thats
when the problem seems to grow.

I also found out that the Bible teaches us that it doesn't
matter what the world thinks, because God loves us all. So
I developed an 'I don't care what you think' attitude. But
I have to be careful, because sometimes I find I'm using
that matter of thinking as a wall between me and the
truth. As a way to run from the truth.

Back to what I was saying about school shootings, I want
people to start thinking about what they say, because
every bad word spoken about someone else puts the lives of
everyone that that person (as in the person being made fun
of) comes in contact with, in danger. I'm not saying it'll
be easy. I'll slip up and I know it! I don't think before
I speak. But I should. It's just something we should all
take into consideration.
