The Unperfect Angel

Clarisse was a beautiful heavenly angel. She played with all of her angel friends and lay on the clouds watching the silly little mortals perform their sinful acts. She thought, “That will never happen to me. I am a heavenly angel that will never give into such mortalish sins.”

Then one day she was caught off guard by one of the Devil’s minions, Sahara. “Clarisse,” Sahara called in a sweet voice, “Will you do me a favor?” Clarisse flew over to Sahara with an apprehensive look.

“What is it?” Clarisse asked while glancing warily back to the gates of heaven.

“I just need you to take me into heaven with you. I REALLY need to talk to Marana, but he never comes out anymore.” Sahara shot Clarisse an innocent smile.

“Well, I don’t see the harm in that.” Clarisse said. So the two of them set off for the gates of Heaven.

“I really appreciate you doing this for me Clarisse,” Sahara said as they were passing the gates, “If I did it myself, I would have gotten into a lot of trouble.” Sahara left Clarisse a little past the gate and never looked back. Right then, Clarisse remembered that it was a sin to help anyone that served the Devil through the gates of Heaven. Clarisse started to run to the castle.

The castle was a snowy white and located in the center of Heaven. She reached the castle, out of breath, and ran up the stairway. Clarisse burst through the doors and ran down the long hallway to the room that she usually found God. She was screaming his name as she ran and many of the other angels we looking at her as if she had gone crazy.

Clarisse reached the room, but he was not there. She started running down the hallway again, reaching another door. She opened it and it slammed against the wall. God was sitting there in a chair. “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry,” Clarisse kept repeating, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” She started crying and sat on her knees in front of him. “I forgot. I’m sorry.”

He looked down at Clarisse. “I know you are Clarisse. Everybody makes mistakes. It was an accident and I understand that. The Devil and his minions are very sneaky and anybody would have fallen for what Sahara did.”

“But….but I have committed a sin. I am no longer perfect anymore.” She stared at the ground.

“Clarisse, nothing is perfect.” He leaned towards her and pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear. “I think you should go off and play now. I will take care of Sahara.”

Clarisse got up and slowly walked to the door. She walked down the long hallway. She walked down the staircase. She passed all of the other angels that were playing on the clouds. And she went to her house.

She laid in her bed and thought to herself, “I am such a hypocrite. I spent so much of my time judging those mortals, and I commit a sin myself.” She buried her face in her hands and started to cry. “And I’m not even perfect anymore. I’m an…I’m an…I’m an unperfect angel!” She choked.
