Much like any other day the sun was shining brightly over head and gentle birdsong sounded through the tree canopy shaded area. With a slight yawn Mary stretched before blinking sleep from her tired eyes. "When did I fall asleep...?" the thought was a bit unnerving to the girl. If anything had happened to her animals! With a quick jerk the girl stood up looking around rapidly before sighing in relief. There they all were, grazing calmly near the water trough. Without saying a word the brunette haired teen leaned back against the tree she had fallen asleep against just moments earlier.
Days like these seemed to last forever, sometimes the brunette would make everything into a game and try and figure out exactly how each thought was relevant to the next. Of course this was silly, but when one had nothing 'better' to do, could you really blame her? A high-pitched, though light, bark reached Mary's ears causing her to glance in the direction of the sound. Coming up the dirt path was a black haired boy with a backpack slung over one shoulder. Mary stood up, dusting her jeans off before glancing back over at the boy. Though he was still about fifty yards off, the teen was heading in her direction, Birdie dancing circles around the boy while barking out a warning that he was coming.
A soft laugh escaped the girl as she watched the boy attempt to ignore the infamous 'mister' Birdie, her 'guard dog'. Mary placed two fingers to her lips, a ear piercing whistle soared through the air before the girl let her hand drop to her side. "Come on Birdie you've tormented him enough!" the girl called. Floppy ears raised before the stubby animal tore off, away from the boy, and raced towards his owner. When Birdie finally reached Mary he jumped up and down barking excitedly. The brunette knelt beside the copper furred dog and scratched behind his ear for a moment before speaking. "So....what brings you here?" Mary asked as her eyes finally turned back to the boy who had stopped a few feet away from her.
