Chapter 1: Awakening
The sound of rattling chains woke her only to find that they were her own. Rikku opened her eyes slowly to pure darkness which surrounded her. She took in a wavering breath and let it out slowly. The feeling of damp stone beneath her and the sound of dripping water was enough for her to realize she was in some sort of dungeon. Her arms were bound by thick metal clasps that gave them about six inches of freedom and her feet were the same. She yanked on them weakly still groggy from whatever her captor had given to her.
"Where...am I?" She called out with a raspy voice and tensely hoped for an answer. When none came she fell limp again while letting her head hang to the side. A stone wall was placed behind her which held the clasps that bound her skinny arms above her head. She sat there and tried pulling her legs closer to her body but could do no such thing. Her breaths were ragged and she sounded pitiful.
Again and again the same horrid thoughts rushed through Rikku's awakening mind. Where was she? How did she get here? Who had done this to her and why? She sighed and coughed. The sudden noise made her muscles tighten even if it was from herself. And if all that wasn't enough, the place she was being held in was dreadfully cold. Rikku shivered violently with nothing but a thin dress to keep her alive. "S-s-so cold." She stuttered.
