Some people like to think that writing is easy, but thoughs that are misinformed are wrong! They are wrong for several reasons: creating a story takes time. It takes awhile to form the words for the plot, and alot of thinking to come up with characters that have purpose, and to descirbe them in a neat package, and coming up with their personalities too. Writing is not all fun and games: sure, it's fun, but it's hard too. It's not some easy do this, do that, and vice versa. You have to let the words flow from your mind, let them make sense, and then put them down on paper. Making characters is making flesh and blood, and it's not as easy as you'd think.
Every part of writing takes time, even for thoughs of us who have experience in writing things, such as poetry and such. The thoughts that flow in the story of the character, you have to give them meaning, and let them take shape. Let them transform in front of your eyes, let them glisten! Characters, plot, description, and alot more are the main keys to writing.
