handheld weapons in a zombie outbreak, avoid unless nececery, or if you have a huge advantage. crow bar: better than most clubs, and has a secondary use.have a skull you want open? done. have a door you want open? done.
screwdriver: better than a trench knife (no brass knuckle grip to slow you down) and secondary use. no point in everyone in your group not having one, and they are esential to hotwiring cars, picking locks, and taking apart things with screws.
shovel: only in open areas, secondary use only good outside of the paved city. if your in the country, a fine weapon. in the city? to many walls and cars, and you cant dig anywhere useful.
baseball bats: no. wood ones will splinter quickly (infection by splinter is a lame way to go) and aluminum ones are hollow and will bend. both require wide swing area to be effective. I have heard about filling the tip of an auminum bat with concrete, but what advantage would that have over a crowbar?
axes: the equal of a crow bar, and probably a better choice for the countryside, but you must sharpen it, and it can take more time to get through a door with one. if you use one, do not risk a wooden handle for to long, splinters are dangerous for infection.
sword: only if its a high quality and you know how to ******** use it. you also have to care for them so that they keep their edge. none of that work for a crowbar however.
knives: increadibly usefull, but in combat they are a last resort back up weapon. serated edges are actualy not that much of a disadvantage unless they are extreme. stab for the temple or eyes
meat cleaver:actualy fairly good if you have a well made one, but the average one tends to have a weakness where it conects to the handle. swing from the side, not overhand, or the roundness of the skull will let it only glance off.
spears: i can only see destroying the brain with one of these with a shot through the eye socket, so its fairly useless.
bowstaff: no matter what any "masters" of the bowstaff say, you canno break through a skull with one blow. yes i admit that you could easily crack many skulls open with one, but that does not do sufficient damgae to the actual brain
guns and long range weapons in a zombie outbreak KNOW HOW TO SHOOT. scopes are better than laser sights (no batteries needed), but if you have sombody who does not know how to shoot, give them one if you've got it.
rifles: must have good range, and must have redily aquirable ammo. no point in having a super god like sniper rifle if you dont have any bullets.
pistols: always have one or two on you. they have almost no chance of being made useless by barel length. if you can get a quiet enough one (unlikley but hey) you will still need to be carefull as they still make a little noise.
shotgun: ammo is heavy, and the kick back and ungodly noise are bad. not much point in useing them in even slightly open areas, but they are the kings of indoors, a big enough one can shoot through a wall. i sugest keeping one or two in your vehical, only for indoor combat.
assault rifles/ machine guns: horrendous wastes of ammo against the undead. use only against people, or as a last resort.
crossbows: slow as s**t to load, but they are silent, and have reusable ammo. best to have one person with one, as stealth is the best stratagy in heavily infected areas.
shiruken: unless you are the all time master god of them, no. the weeboos fabled ninja buried them in s**t to rust them, then it took only a nick to give the target incurable tetnus. which zombies cant get.
flame throwers: as the only one you could get would be a jerry rigged supersoaker filled with gasoline, not unless your shooting from the top of an inflamable wall and have a gas mask for the smoke.
maltov cocktails: the same use as a flame thrower, only much easyer to make.
vehicals
cars most people will have abandoned their cars, or died in them, so while they will be plentiful and easy to obtain (if you know how to hotwire, and NOT SET OFF THE CAR ALARM) they will block most roads.
