Welcome to My Freaky World (now get yer s**t and leave)
Silhouette
Standing on my own...
The shimmering black water reflected the clear night sky, dotted with stars and a gleaming moon. All around pine trees stretched high, grasping at the heavens wistfully. Small lights blinked on the distant shores of the lake, wavering in and out of reality as though the things they represented did not exist.

Underneath the blanket of the night two silhouettes sat on the grassy bank, staring up into the stars.

The figures were barely distinguishable against the black, but they were pressed up against each other, shoulder to shoulder, so one could see that one was smaller than the other. The smaller one was pointing at a small cluster of stars, speaking muffled words that were followed by a chime of laughter. The other, taller figure laughed as well, turning to face the smaller one, and pointed at another constellation in the sky. The small one turned to look, but did not say anything.

The tall one lowered its arm and said one word, the tone of its voice raised in a pitch of concern. The other shook its head slowly, but still did not speak. Again, the voice of concern spoke, and this time the tall figure reached over to tilt the other's head so it was looking away from the sky.

Slowly, the small figure murmured a few words, pausing to collect its thoughts. But before it could speak, the tall one had pulled it into an embrace. Again the muffled voice of the taller spoke, three words that were engulfed into the night.

The small one laughed and repeated, this time the words were muffled by the sound of sobs. Tears of happiness.

I stood and watched as they broke apart, the taller one kissing the small one on the forhead. In all the times I had been to this place, I've seen this same thing happen each time. I know that, as many times as I return, it will never change. Those two will never change. They remain here forever, in their own universe, trapped in their own reality. Repeating the same things over and over, living it through one more time. Because they no longer exist. They will continue to live in eternity, because there is nowhere for them to go.

Turning on my heel, I slowly walked away from the muted laughter that once again rang in the air. Steadily on, I faded further and further into the darkness, leaving behind the memories of my happiness.
