Overlord's Lilium Chapter 3 Prologue
After 5 months of hiatus, Overlord's Lilium returns... With only a prologue (you know, the standard evil council thing with Vulcanus and Kakuzawa)
Chapter 3: Night of Walachia (This was not created from any Elfen Lied or Disgaea titles but may be familiar to others... Elfen Lied belongs to Lynn Okamoto and studio ARMS. Disgaea belongs to Takehito Harada and Nippon Ichi. Night of Walachia and Sion Eltnam Atlasia from Melty Blood belong to Type-Moon, Ecole Software, Kinoko Nasu, and Takeuchi Takashi.)

"Well", the white-winged man began, "I would think that our bet is moot due to both our forces being utterly unsuccessful." Kakuzawa responded, "Even so, care to explain why your robotic assassins kill my mercenary?" the white-winged man answered, "It was because they judged him to be an incalculable risk because of actions he committed that were not relevant to the mission as shown in the footage sent back by Agent SM-1, Smith." Kakuzawa understood the white-winged man's point and retracted his question, "Well, I don't have to worry about paying him, anyway, but what now? Care to make another wager?" The white-winged man agreed and began to chant a spell, "Evil born from the darkness of chaos. Abide by the pact, and annihilate my foes!" This infamous line revealed the white-winged man as the self-righteous Archangel, Vulcanus. From a magic circle that appeared on the ground, a blonde bishonen man dressed in a purple suit and cape, while keeping his eyes seemingly constantly closed, the appearance of the epitomy of the most generic vampire, Dracula, appeared. Vulcanus, having dealt with many creatures of darkness, stood as normal, but Kakuzawa, who recruited only mortal minions, was taken aback. "Who the hell is that?", he asked Vulcanus, as if expecting the answer to rationalize this supernatural situation. However to Kakuzawa's further confusion, Vulcanus explained that he was the greater demon that was summoned to help in their efforts. Kakuzawa, at first, did not believe Vulcanus, but considering the presence of an Archangel and the video footage brought back by Agent Smith showing “demons”, he decided to go along with it. He wondered if he was getting old (AN: He's 70+. That IS old for a mortal). Vulcanus then asked the vampire his name to which the vampire responded, "For this audience, I play the role of Zepia..." Vulcanus wondered why "Zepia" talked as if introducing himself for a play, but then labeled that factor as insignificant. He explained the situation and job proposition to Zepia. To this, Zepia responded, "Though I don't like working under another's script, but an evening party after five hundred years is not a bad thing." Kakuzawa questioned the abilities of this "weirdo" to which Vulcanus asked who Kakuzawa would bring to use. Kakuzawa called in his own bishonen man, Nousou, who was eating Pocky at the time and had a ponytail. (AN: For reference for this next part, read the end of Elfen Lied manga chapter 79 and at least the first half of chapter 80.) Kakuzawa asked if the "preparations" were on schedule. In response, Nousou led Kakuzawa, Vulcanus, and Zepia into a dungeon-like room where he began to explain, "Here's a place not many lab people know of, since it's somewhat like a dungeon, and a fair number of Silpelits have been restrained and brought here. I'd say most are failures without even a human countenance left... Well, the culling amongst these girl is strict. Out of 1108 ovula, only four have grown human faces... These are our side's Diclonii." He then told one of those Diclonii, this one in particular named Diana, to stand up and said, "If there were four of her, someone like Lucy with her two meter range wouldn't have a chance. In any case, these girls are copies of that strongest Diclonius (AN: Mariko), but that is not all. Their brains were applied with little trinkets. With part of their frontal lobe cut out.

As to render them indisputably obedient to my orders, cranial nerves are directly connected to electrical circuits; this is also why they don't talk. These girls can't disobey my orders now. No matter how absurd they might be." Zepia responded calmly and somewhat even admiring this twisted method of control, "Well, isn't pleasant to have these wonderful, young thespians perform to your script without question? Such brilliant directing is quite rare amongst mortals. Bravo." Nousou's first mental reaction was WTF!? but seeing as how this strange foreigner seemed to be a colleague of his boss, Kakuzawa, actually saying WTF!? would be bad for his career and perhaps life, so he settled for these words, “Well… Anyway, a considerable amount of Diclonii were wasted just to develop this technology. And another thing… A “gadget” was put in the girls. Let me show you. Well, you girls, come to me!” Suddenly, at that moment, the Mariko clones decided to… Raid Nousou’s Pocky supply! This greatly reduced Kakuzawa’s confidence in Nousou’s project. Nousou, in order to put himself back into Kakuzawa’s confidence, ordered Diana to stab her own arm. Without any feeling of pain or fear, Diana did as she was ordered. Well, that is, until a few seconds later, when she broke down in tears of pain. Nousou offered some quick words of comfort to Diana then turned Kakuzawa and confidently said, “Well, that’s how it is. They’ll obey my every order.” To which Kakuzawa answered, “It’s a useless farce.” Shocked, Nousou asked, “What do you mean?” Kakuzawa answered by shooting himself in the hand and asked, “What sense is there is hurting yourself? Despite having explosives inside her body, number 35 finally lost herself to personal feelings and was defeated by Lucy. That’s not what I’m looking for. As long as there’s an order, only an overwhelming “selflessness” should exist, and they shouldn’t care about their own life. If you can’t prove it, your whole lab will be a waste of time.” After pondering for a short time, Nousou responded, “I understand. In that case, let’s take a look.” Turning to Diana, he commanded, “Diana, pierce your heart with this knife. That’s an o...” Zepia interrupted before Nousou could finish his sentence, “Don’t be so hasty. If you’re going to force her to leave this mise-en-scène of life, then give her one final order before that. That is to say, allow me to show you my abilities.” Kakuzawa, apparently gotten used to Zepia’s speech pattern, turned to him and asked, “Oh? And what order would that be?’ Zepia responded, “Simply tell this lovely, young performer to kill… me.” “What?” Nousou and Kakuzawa said simultaneously, in surprise. “What would that accomplish?” Vulcanus, who is more acquainted with the undead, remarked, “Actually that is an excellent idea. Nousou, is it? Give this order. If nothing happens, we will simply be rid of someone useless.” Kakuzawa responded, “Well, if you put it that way… Nousou.” Nousou gave the order, “All right. Diana, kill this blonde eccentric foreigner.” Diana drew forth her vectors and sliced Zepia into crumbling pieces. Seeing the bloody mass, Kakuzawa asked, “And besides being rid of that lunatic, what was that supposed to…” Just then Zepia’s remains evaporated, a high-pitched laugh sounded, and his voice echoed throughout the room, “KIKIKIKIKIKIKI!!! Eccentric foreigner? Lunatic? You mortals know nothing of true theatric art!” This was followed by Zepia, his eyes opened revealing red bloody orbs, mouth open wide, blood dripping from it, revealing a row of razor-sharp teeth, reappearing behind Diana and puncturing her throat with his fangs, and gorging her fresh, young, virgin (AN: This, of course, is an assumption, since the manga doesn’t specify what EXACTLY Nousou’s experiments are), Diclonius blood. Without even the chance to feel pain and surprise, Diana’s blood vessels lost the liquids that once flowed through them, and she fell to the ground dead.

Zepia then closed his eyes and mouth and wiped his mouth with a handkerchief, like an aristocrat finishing dinner, then like a food critic, he gave a “rating”, “Though her attack on me had no feeling, her blood makes a most delicious and nutritious meal; the likes of which I’ve never tasted in humans. Be proud, Nousou. You make an excellent horticulturalist.” Nousou was shocked, “What the hell are you?” Kakuzawa finally understood Zepia’s power and laughed, “He’s a vampire, after all. If you can survive those vectors, then you can easily survive Lucy’s.” Zepia felt the pride of a stage actor being praised by a director (AN: Technically, Kakuzawa IS a director, just not of the theater. LOL) and responded, “But that is not the only talent I can bring to this scene. For example, that girl I so forcefully made leave the stage. She was truly beautiful. It would be a shame for her role not to be replaced.” He then motioned his fingers, and Diana’s body slowly rose from the floor. Nousou felt surprised and a little relieved and put his hand on Diana’s shoulder. It still felt like the coldness of a corpse. Diana looked up, and her eyes shown with the same soulless whiteness as any cadaver. Nousou jumped back in surprise. Zepia explained to Kakuzawa, “Director, you said that these girls showed too much emotion. However, under my direction, they will have no emotion at all.” Kakuzawa laughed, “I see, then Nousou’s project is obsolete. I will shut down his lab and give all his Diclonii to y…” “However,” Zepia responded, “Because those under my direction have no brain activity (AN: Vectors are only usable when the pineal gland in the brain is alive, and since the Dead controlled by vampires are completely dead…), they do not have use of their vectors. Sadly, my power can only create placeholders with none of the unique talents they had when alive.” Kakuzawa responded, “With your abilities, vectors are unnecessary, so I’ll get the paperwork to…” “Sir”, Nousou protested, “The money spent on this research…” “Is insignificant compared to the global plans I have,” Kakuzawa interrupted. “For some reason, I have a feeling that you’ve become somewhat attached to your test subjects, Nousou. Need I remind you that they will kill you without hesitation when those neural override devices of yours are removed, if not from their impulses, then from the anger they have toward you for doing this to them in the first place?” Nousou had no response to this, but Zepia responded, “Though he clearly has no talent to be the lead actor, why not cast him to be my support? Have him lead those that you have your spotlight on to me (AN: Of course, he’s referring to Lucy) preferably to a place where your spotlight girl, Lucy, has any grand-scale encounters with your men before. The place she fought the one you call #35 will do nicely. If he so desires, he can even have some of his entourage with him, fully alive. If he indeed has developed feelings, then it would most entertaining to see how that will progress, especially if it leads to some wonderfully beautiful tragedy.” Kakuzawa, interpreting Zepia’s theater talk, responded, “Very well. You seem to know what you’re doing, somehow. Zepia, head to the bridge where the coordinates that will be briefed to you indicate. Nousou, use your Diclonii’s tracking abilities to find Lucy, and lure to her to the bridge where she fought number 35. If all goes well, I will be God to this new world of Diclonii!” Vulcanus smirked and thought to himself, “You fool, all you are is a pawn for my path to Godhood.”
