...just bits and pieces of stuff.
Episode G

I've had the eleventh volume of Saint Seiya - Episode G sitting on my shelf for months. Today, I finally got off my lazy a** and read it.

I'm still not sure what to make of Pontos! I mean, he is a God, so it would make perfect sense that he knows what he's talking about and that his power is that much greater than the cosmos of mortals. But then, Aiolia just keeps pushing at the boundaries between mortals and Gods, getting closer and closer to matching Pontos' dunamis... (And Athena isn't even on his side here, as she was/will be for the bronzies!) So which is it? How great are these Gods in comparison to the goldies?

On the other hand, I refuse to think that he's turning into another Seiya, because he is completely different than that dumbass. I mean, the goldies were always supposed to be inimaginably stronger than the bronzies. They were supposed to be Athena's elite, the strongest, the closest to the Gods who have full mastery of their seventh and eigth senses. Seiya and his buddies could only reach the seventh sense with Athena's help and, at best, only for an instant.

So, no, I'm not shocked that Aiolia and the goldies are putting up a good fight against Pontos, the Titans and the Giants. They still have some ways to go from being at a level where they can hand Pontos his little divine armoured butt anyway. (What bothers me is that everyone - in this case, Dohko - keeps mentioning Aiolos and pointing him out as an example to follow, when he's still supposed to be the big bad traitor of the Sanctuary...)

Ah, but whatever... this volume was really good! Aphrodite was surprisingly kick a**! And the last chapter... oh, that "prophetic" ending was perfect! I love these little tie ins to the original series. ^^

I'll have to get up early tomorrow morning and run to the bookstore to see if they have any of the next volumes, because I'm dying to know what will happen next! The French edition is supposed to be on volume 14 by now, so if I'm lucky I'll have two more books to keep me occupied in my exile.

It's odd how I don't even notice Okada's drawing style any more. I used to hate it so much and now I'm - brace yourselves - turning into a huge fan! Anatomically impossible bodies, freaky pointy faces and all! That level of detail is just too impressive... crying

Post summary:
  • Giggling, spasming and dancing in joy!
  • Foreshadowing rules!
  • WAAAH!
