I've been reading a lot lately about vampires, and noone seems to agree with anyone else. One person says "The cross, the cross, that's the only way to get rid of them!" another patiently repeats that they can be harmed by holy water, sunlight, garlic, and a stake through the heart. Nevermind that a stake through the heart would kill anything, vampiric or not. For every person who believes they are soulless killers, there are another thousand, poisoned by popular culture, who think they are sparkly, perfect, beautiful beings. I can't think of a single detail that makes it into every book. You thought all of them were originally human? Ha, nice try. There a re tons of vampires who are somehow a separate race entirely. Many of them seem to suck flowing human blood, but others do just as well on supplements, animal blood, or i.v. bags.
