He looks up as the smell suddenly grows strong it was almost overwhelm. It was an absolute miracle that he was still standing. “Hello mother.” he says with a forced smile as he brushes his raven black hair away from his green eyes. The small rather large woman wearing a deep sea green dress that hugged her body tightly the buttons down the front about to burst open revealing… He shivered at the thought as she looks up at the woman’s face. He say his green eyes on her face and her golden red hair stringed with gray as it is curled tightly against her head like a baby doll. “My Damien your all grown up.” she coos as she walks over to him her heels clinging against the linoleum floor. Damien cringed slightly as the woman’s arms wrapped tightly around his waist as she stood a whole foot smaller than his six foot three inch stature. Damien took a long shallow breathe as he wrapped his arms around the plump woman laying his sharp chin lightly on top of her head. He felt his black button up shirt take in the smell into every fiber he was going to have to get it dry clean twice to get the smell out. The plump woman releases Damien as she grabs onto his bicep giving it a squeeze. “Oh Damien you seem stronger than last time I saw you. You seemed to have gone lost all your baby fat.” she says as she taps Damien’s cheek. Damien smiles as he winks at his mother. “You know it.” he says jokingly. Could she possible know his secret? Could she figure out why he became so much stronger in everyway since he last visited last summer? Damien shakes his head slightly clearing it as his mother walks across the floor and toward her patio. Thank heaven open air! He rejoices in his mind as his mother opens the screen door then sits down on a lawn chair leaving Damien to close the door and have a seat a cross from her in another lawn chair, he say the white paint tinged a light brown from being in the sun and a victim of the weather in Georgia. “My my Damien I was near positive that you were done with that growing thing?” The woman ask as she leans back in the chair as it moans slightly straining against her weight. Damien smiles as a breeze blew by sweeping up his hair and blowing it to his left revealing an earring on the lobe of his right ear it was a small diamond shaped stone that was blue and green each swirling around each other in a random pattern dangling from his ear. The woman’s eyes grew wide with shock as she jumps from the chair and runs and grasp hold of her son’s face. Damien ignored everyone of his newly required instinct that screamed at his body to jump up and flee and stop the woman from touching him. His mother touches the jewel on his ear. “What is this why is-is-is it there? Damien?” she ask staring at the intricate design as Damien mutters inaudibly to himself. “Damien why is your ear pierced?” She ask as fear slowly rises with every word she says. Damien let out a calm breathe as he holds his mother’s shoulders and pushes her up and away from him. His movements became suddenly fluid as his mother’s eyelids pull completely back as he simple rises from the chair and lowers the plump woman down into it. The chair creaking hopelessly under her weight. “Sorry mother, I am required elsewhere.” he says softly in her ear leaving her stunned as he rises and walks out of the patio sliding the door effortlessly leaving it open as he walks across the kitchen floor, his eyes shifting from green to gold. He closes them as he walks through the perfumed air this time sharper than ever, forcing Damien to run through it to get out of it. Damien leans against the door as he looks down to his left and sees a small girl looking around the age of ten looking up at him, her eyes were a bright red and her hair thick white and curly flowing down to her shoulders. She seems frail under her white sundress and glossy black shoes. “Damien are you alright?” she says in a high soprano voice. Damien opens one eye now realizing how much sweat was beading up on his forehead. “Yes, Tami I am alright.” he sits up away from the wall as the small girl wraps her fingers around two of his. “Damien are you ready to leave now?” she ask softly looking up longingly into his eyes. Damien looks down at the angelic face with the demonic red eyes. Did this girl really completely and totally change his simple life? He shakes his head at both the question and the thought. “No, Tami.” he finally says after minutes of thinking, “We need to do a few more things before be can leave.” he says sweetly. At that moment the girl smiled blissfully. The simplicity of how this girl, this simple girl with the red eyes, can bring happiness to everyone with this one perfect smile was beyond Damien, but he no longer cared. He only craves to bring this girl everything she wants, and she wants purely this one thing of him. To protect her till she can come to the altar of Aeterniti and she sacrifices herself for her people. A wonderful and blissful death is to come for her! Damien stares at the smile and couldn’t help but to smile and think these thoughts. But he was bounded by blood to assist this girl. He couldn’t stop himself even if it is the right thing to do. Damien was bound by an oath made years ago by his great grandfather an oath to keep his only son. An oath to doom his great grandson to certain death. An oath in blood over the same altar where Tami’s life will end just so this land of Aeterniti will not mix with the land of Reality. Such a simple lost to such a huge cause.
