A New Friend? A PRP between Artemis and Nasunda
Nasunda scanned the town slowly and deliberately. There was not much to see, but maybe there was more to it than what met the eye. After a more thorough and just as fruitless search of the small town she plunked down onto a soft, bright green, bed of grass. Reaching to her pokebelt she unclipped a tiny pokeball and released a flash of red. In it's wake a golden caterpie stood, glistening in the early morning sun. Nasunda replaced the ball on her belt and put her hand down allowing the pokemon to crawl up her arm. Raising the caterpie closer to her face she quipped, "Not even an interesting trainer to talk to, eh Honey?" The caterpie nuzzled her and proceeded farther up the arm to perch on her shoulder. Laxly Nasunda stood up again and wandered aimlessly talking to Honey. "Maybe we should go see who we can meet outside of town. There's bound to be trainers somewhere nearby." Honey waved her little stubby brown tail furiously with excitment, and her red antenna twitched sensing even the slightest air movement. The pair headed out towards the route numbered 1 and exited the town. Almost immediately they saw another trainer out in the tall grass. "Want to go check it out?" Nasunda asked her almost drooling caterpie. Honey chirped and flailed her stubby tail again, excited to meet another trainer. Nasunda and Honey then approached the other girl in the field.
Artemis heard and felt the presence of another trainer approaching though she made no sudden movements to acknowledge them. She was busy sketching something in her notebook besides some scribble of notes. There was so much she wanted to learn and keep track of for future references. A spinarak watched it's master, dangling from a tree above. Hopping around the woman was a pikachu obviously annoyed at waiting. After a few more moments the trainer placed her items back into her bag then chided her pokemon, "You be patient Akari. You can't always have attention." Warm golden eyes stared up at the spider, "Come down, we must continue on Arachne." Gracefully she held up her hand and the spinarak swiftly perched onto the hand. Feeling it was a little rude to keep her back to another, she slowly turned to face the newcomers, "Hello, what might I do for you?" Akari tilted her head in interest then bounded up to them in excitement.
The tall grass shifted slightly as the trainer talked to most probably a pokemon of hers in the fronds. She then turned her attention to the tree and a shiny spinarak lighted on her offered hand from above. Turning to face the approaching trainer she spoke elegantly and politely asked of what Nasunda might want from her. "Hello. I'm....." The grass rustled and cut her off. In a beeline straight out of the tall blades a pikachu adorned with a flower popped out, and crashed into Nasunda's legs. Sending her off balance, she stumbled a bit then regained her composure. She continued "I'm Nasunda and I'm kind of new to the area." Her words were a bit fumbled but understandable. "I haven't met anyone here yet so I'm looking for someone who might know the area better and could help me train or at least show me the way forward." Her lavender eyes focused on the ground then she trained her gaze onto the pikachu which appeared dazed at her feet. "I've never seen a pikachu before....." She squatted down beside the yellow pokemon. "I used to be a breeder and worked with my parents" She explained, "but when a pair of butterfree I was caring for produced this caterpie I kept it and began training. If I had sold this caterpie it most assuredly would have had a horrible life. Most owners of shinies seem to think they are for showing off and stress the poor things out. I see you have a shiny spinarak, it seems rather fond of you." She smiled and stood back up. "It's nice to see people who actually know how to take care of pokemon." Nasunda smiled again awaiting the other trainers response.
The trainer smiled, "I treat them well if they obey me." Her voice was firm, but in her eyes showed true care for her allies. Artemis reached into her pack and picked out a pokeblock and fed it to the spinarak who happily munched it down. After a few clicks of the pinchers, the food was gone. Gently she brushed her fingers over the spinarak who shook her body with glee. Golden eyes trailed off to stare at Akira, her pikachu. Though she was looking at the pokemon, it was clear she was speaking to the trainer, "I do believe that shinies have a harder life than the rest, this one captured my attention due to her color." A light smile played on her lips as Arachne crawled up and perched itself happily on her master's head. It tapped the top of the head before settling down. "I don't believe I have introduced myself. My name is Artemis, my spinarak is Arachne, and that bundle over there is Akira." The pikachu sat up smiling as cutely as she could and tilted her head to the side. When Akira wanted attention, she would do all she must to get it.
Nasunda looked down to check on the pokemon that'd crashed into her and found it quite awake and looking very adorable. She looked back up at the trainer half to be polite, and half knowing it would only teach a bad habit to pay attention to the Pikachu when it begged. "Pleased to meet you Artemis......" She paused awkwardly for a second. "I feel it's rather rude to just chat and leave but I do need to know where to go. I'd like to find a town to make a sort of home base in." As she said home base she motioned with finger quotes in the air, "Ya know a place with a Pokemon Center and a Mart, possibly a trainers club or school too. I need some sort of recording device for the pokemon I meet besides my notebook." She hauled out a plain black notebook with an ornately drawn Milotic and Gardevoir Yin Yang sign on it. "I bought this to help me out but as it seems there's much more about training and pokemon than I could ever record by hand. I'm used to the data tables and notes we kept on our breeders back at home. Fairly simple stuff just some tallies and behavioral notes." Nasunda shut up realizing she'd probably said enough to bore her new acquaintance or at least annoy her with the constant chatter. Reaching behind she tapped the Caterpie whom was attacking her skull with the flailing tail, then put her notebook back into her bag.
Artemis smiled kindly at Akari, "She really does love attention..." Her voice trailed as the little brown eyes became sad as she wasn't provided with the care and attention she was looking for. Her lips quirked and chubby little hands crossed trying to think of some other way. The pikachu didn't get time to come up with a plan as her master summoned her over. The trainer's golden eyes looked back to her new acquaintance. "That sounds like a wonderful idea." As she was speaking, she pulled out her own notebook that held so many doodles and notes. It wasn't the first and would definitely not be her last. It was a dark blue book, hand bound and held intricate details of one of the mysterious legendary pokemon. A slender hand held it up and the texture glistened in the light, showing an interesting style of Kyogre portrayed on the cover. "A digital recording device would come in handy...perhaps I and my team can join you?" For some reason she was fine with listening to her talk. It was rare that she felt comfortable enough to just sit and listen to another. Though that may change if she was asked to speak more than she was ready to do. Artemis put her notebooks away as well smiling up and waiting patiently for an answer.
A partner..... Nasunda never really considered it, but it sounded like a great idea. Traveling would be easier with two people and battling their Pokemon against each other could level them up quickly as they went. Unless this Artemis character had some other ideas or plans up her sleeve Nasunda saw no harm in the idea. "That sounds like a great idea. I'm not sure how to go about this but I'm sure we could figure something out." Honey stopped her tail and quirked her head to the side inquisitively looking at her trainer. "What?" She replied to the curious Caterpie. "Don't want to travel with another trainer?" Honey blinked rapidly then opened her eyes wide, you could have sworn she had stars in them. She quickly crawled down Nasunda's back then wiggled her way over to Artemis and Akari. Tilting her head at the Pikachu she chirped and danced attempting to speak with the yellow Pokemon. "Seems Honey wants to play with Akari." Nasunda scratched the back of her head a little embarrassed. "Can species intercommunicate? I've never seen Pokemon try to talk with one another." She felt a blush rise to her cheeks at her question. She felt this was something she should have known. Honey continued her Caterpie dance and playful chirping trying to get Akari and now Arachne to join in. Nasunda watched on helplessly, hoping her Pokemon would be able to get along with the others.
She smiled happy that she was accepted and allowed to tag along. Perhaps they could train together, she wanted to level up Horou who seemed so distraught being the 'weakest' one in her team. Arachne was also -secretly- wanting to stay the strongest. Of course just by watching them interact, it was kind of evident what they wanted. Golden eyes laid upon Honey who was looking for attention, "What an adorable caterpie!" The trainer's lips twitched up as Akari looked a little taken aback. She was the one who had usually initiated the interaction with others. It was a nice change and the pikachu happily obliged hopping around. Arachne wasn't as eager to interact and stayed where she was. Horou had heard the noises and was wiggling in his pokeball wanting to be let out. "No no not here Horou! We are not near any water where I can let you out!" It seemed like the pokemon would get along well. Artemis smiled at Nasunda, "Yes, it's amazing isn't it? I didn't think it would be possible but they manage to understand each other." "Pika!" cooed the yellow fluff ball as she rolled and hopped.
Nasunda clapped and laughed delighted that Honey was getting along with Akari. The yellow and golden glitter of two pokemon happily dancing and twirling round each other was quite the sight. Arachne still perched on her trainers head seemed to watch but was not interested in the goings on. Nasunda watched her Caterpie interact with the Pikachu for a while longer then called her back. "I knows it's fun and you're excited to have a new friend but we must be getting along at some point Honey." The Caterpie if a little disappointed crawled back to it's master and resumed her shoulder perch. Nasunda noticed Artemis talking to something other than her Pikachu and Spinarak, seemed like one of the pokeballs she had on her belt. Feeling a tad envious of Artemis' collection, which seemed to be larger than once thought, Nasunda wished for more pokemon. Her thoughts turned to the situation at hand again. "Well we should get going somewhere I guess. Seems to be getting close to dark and I know that it doesn't matter where you are once it gets dark it gets dangerous." Stroking her caterpie Nasunda dropped her bag to the ground and excavated her map. "It's old but I might be able to get something out of it. Is this the area we're in?" She pointed to the upper left corner of the map which stated in bold red letters JHOTO. "If this map is right then the place behind us is New Bark Town...... and the next place is Cherrygrove City." Nasunda paused then almost jumped out of her skin. "I almost forgot my parents were sending me some sort of going away gift! They said I should be able to pick it up at the first Pokemon Center in the region! I wonder what they sent. We should get going to find out!" Nasunda stuffed the map back into her bag then slung it over her shoulder hastily. Motioning for her new friend to follow she took to a light jog through the tall grassy patch her long black coat snapped back and waved as she bounded away.
