Chapter Two
“What?! T-that’s insane!”
“I thought you knew me better, Rebecca,” Zero said with a smile. Dice smacked him hard on his left cheek, “W-why did you make her- wait, how did you make her a gazillion tons?!” Zero, rubbing his red-hand-marked cheek, smiled, “Not a gazillion, Rebecca, Eleven thousand, five hundred tons.”
Dice turned to face Zero completely, and raised a finger at him, “Get one thing straight. It’s Dice. Second thing, no more making insane projects! How did you get the material to make her so heavy anyway?”
“Oh, I didn’t get material, Re- I mean, Dice. You see, I programmed her to-“
“Yeah, yeah, no one cares,” she said, waving a hand at Zero, as if patting his boring words away, “Zero, we need to find her. What if she jumps on someone’s house?!” Zero laughed at Dice, slapping his knee, “If you didn’t interrupt me during my explanation, you would understand why I’m not concerned about that.”
Dice stayed quiet, waiting for the rest of Zero’s explanation.
“Okay, she only weighs eleven thousand, five hundred tons when she feels it’s necessary to weigh that much to get out of a certain situation, do you understand?”
Dice nodded a little, and put her finger to her chin, “So, like, if someone tried to kidnap her, she could change her weight to a gazillion tons?”
“Exactly.”
Dice managed a semi-smile at Zero before running her hand through her black hair, “Well, I suggest we go and keep looking. We meet back at your place, when the clock strikes seven.” Zero smiled and nodded as he stood up, holding out a hand to Dice. She stuck out her tongue at him, and smacked his hand away before she stood up. Zero started off one way and Dice the other, getting up on a random house, and began to run in search of the girl again.
After the first ten minutes, Dice got annoyed. She had already searched for four hours, and now she was going to go for another three, long, endless hours. Dice then pondered upon why she was doing this. Sure, she hadn’t seen Zero in what seemed like forever, but she never helped him, even if it meant life or death for him. She shook her head from the serious thoughts, and decided to go hunt down Dai and her posse. Dice knew their hangout, in fact, she would go and hangout there without Dai knowing, and hang out with her lookalikes. Dice smirked, and ran faster.
It took about five minutes, but it seemed like maybe two to Dice. She was pumped for an actual reason to come and see Dai, and possibly piss her off for no apparent reason. The way into the hangout was tricky, and actually, you needed to wear rollerblades, known as skates to the Taggers, and grind up a twisting rail, jump off of it, and stop before you fell off the edge; having to do the whole complicated trick all over again. The hangout was actually very big, and was made of some old, deserted part of the little town where it stood over the forest. Dai decided to name the area, even though Dice owned a small area of it.
It was called The Rust, and even the Normies knew about it, but only Taggers knew how to get in. Every Tagger in this little town could skate, and it wasn’t because they did it every day, but it was in their blood. And because it was in their blood, any tagger had access to The Rust. The history on The Rust is unknown, but rumor has it that The Rust was filled with millions of people, but then some Taggers took over, and the Normies didn’t want anything to do with the Taggers. Thus, the Normies made a whole new town. The town that Zero and Dice lived in, known as The New. All of the Taggers lived in The Rust, all of them except Dice, and that made some of the Normies upset, but Dice basically owned The New, along with the center of The Rust, which was a rusty looking version of the Town’s Square in The New. She didn’t have time to take over all of The Rust, and plus, she was just plain lazy.
Dice walked past the giant curving pole, and to a old rusted wall, moved a part of metal that seemed attached to the wall, revealing some skates. The skates were knee-high, so of course the belonged to Dice. She kicked off her combat boots, and then quickly shoved the skates on, tying them up. “Aw, my littlie babies, did you miss mommy~?” she baby talked to her skates while tying them up, and then stood up, gliding around making sure she was used to it still. Dice taped the tip of her roller blades against the ground to get her feet used to them, “I’m still good,” she said, backing up and keeping her eye on the prize, and in this case, the prize was the pole. She pushed herself foreword, shifting her weight to her right, and then quickly to her left repeatedly until she jumped onto the rail, leaning into the center of the pole just enough so she didn’t fall backwards. Since the time she jumped onto the rail, she had been counting. So far, she was at ten… eleven… twelve… thirteen… fourteen… fifteen; she twirled backwards like a dropped coin on the rail, and it slowed her down just enough so she could reach the top of the small, metal, platform, but not slow enough so she would stop completely and begin to go backwards down the pole.
Dice walked through to low metal arches that led to The Rust like a short tunnel, and she smiled when the old buildings of The Rust greeted her. She skated through the old, rusted, maze-like streets of The Rust and then suddenly stopped. Something was wrong… Dice rubbed her ears; there was a low, small, continuous screeching noise, and it was beginning to hurt her ears.
“How does it sound?” A voice said from behind her. Dice turned around to see a guy, about 6’4, he had silver colored hair, some huge white headphones on his head, he wore black goggles over his eyes, a skin tight, black, long sleeved shirt, black tight pants, and some jet black skates. Dice looked at him, her striking blue eyes narrowed, “W-who the hell are you?”
The mysterious man smirked, and skated backwards, “Name’s Volume. And my, are you a sight,” he looked her up and down with a wicked smile on his face that reminded her a little of Zero when she first met him. Dice let go of her ears to uppercut him, but he caught her hand with ease, and now her ears felt like they were going to explode. She fell to the ground and screamed in pain. Volume kneeled down on his left knee and lifter her chin up so she was looking at him, “Do you want it to stop?”
She nodded her head hard.
“I can’t hear you,” he said with anger, pulling her closer to him by her tank top. Dice wasn’t going to give him what he wanted. She wasn’t going to back down. She just nodded her head again, looking away from his black goggles. He hit her across the face, and threw her on the ground. Dice curled up into a ball and covered her ears as the screech got louder. Then, there was a silence. Dice began to panic in fear that she had gone deaf, and looked up to see Volume shaking in fear as a large, white, high-tech looking laser was aimed at his head. Connected to that laser was the girl.
That’s the robot… Dice thought and stood up, and the second she did that, the robot’s head whipped over to look at Dice while another laser unfolded out of the robot’s right shoulder and aimed at Dice. The robot’s eyes were an empty silver color, and her skin almost sheet white. Dice held her hands out in surrender, “Listen… um, robot girl… I. Am. Here. To. Take. You. Home. To. Zero,” she said very slowly. The robot tilted its head, then looked at Volume who was still frozen.
“Can you put the lasers away?” Dice asked the robot. The robot shook her head, but folded away the laser that was aimed at Dice away, “He is a threat, is he not?”
Wow, she can talk really good, but the Normies would freak either way… Dice thought. “Well, somewhat of a threat I guess. But I’m sure he won’t try anything with you around.”
The robot nodded and folded the other laser away. Dice assumed that Zero had done his part, making her able to do more than any robot should be able to do. But the lasers must be able to fold into her back or something, because they were no longer in sight. Volume backed away a few steps and smiled, “I’m sorry, I have-“
“A short temper?” Dice said.
“Eh, something like that. But I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you or anything,” he walked over to Dice with his hand held out, the robot girl watched his every move as he did this, and Dice shook his hand, “It’s fine…” she tried to pull her hand away, but he didn’t loosen his grip, instead, he tightened it a little, and pulled her in closer to him. He lifted her chin like he did earlier, and smiled that wicked smile, “Now… may I?”
