>>Chapter 1<<

Going back to the depths of my memories I see that I had no childhood. I would tell you of all the heartfelt moments with my family like you see on television today, but I have none. All I have is tales of destruction and selfishness, but before I recall them how about some history?

Back then everything was so much different. My earliest memories were spent learning what I could, and couldn’t do under the rules placed by the high council. The number one rule and only rule I follow now was the most important. It stated that all the other rules were but set by power and meant to be broken by any who held power. My world was ruled by the powerful, and the weak scrambled at your feet.

Yes, there were humans at this time, but they were just pathetic things used as food, and the lowest of slaves. Today, people have dogs, back then we had human pets.

Perhaps I am being too verbose? I have been charged with it many a time, though I care naught. If you have a problem with my writings, my most sacred of text, then you may put it down now to go squander your life away elsewhere. If you waste your time on reading this, that is your choice, and I am not accountable for the disappointment you are indubitable to find.

I wasn’t born like normal people and beings. My parents are the universe, or planet, or god. I’m not really sure what created me. I am an elder, a creature not diluted by a corrupted bloodline. My perfection ends at that though, for I have surely done many acts of imperfection in my long and tedious life.

I will start in a time of peace where all the peoples were in glee and prospered in an ignorant bliss. I was worshiped in my earliest days for being an elder creature born literally of this world. People flocked to me and my kingdom was built.

This particular night the heavens cried and down fell billions and billions of water droplets. “The angels cry tonight, weeping upon thy land to quench its thirst”, came a smooth, low, and poetic voice.

I just smiled in reply and continued to gaze at my portrait. “Truly, one as thou, dost not believe in such a fantasy thing as heaven?” My voice was gentle and kind. It held the chimes of glee and hints of my once sarcastic nature.

The chuckle in response was even merrier, Jay always had such merriment. “My friend and master, y’ur thinking may be fine for someone as ye”, I glanced at him with a tilt of my head. Jet black locks of hair slid out of place to reveal my once glimmering, crystal-like purple eyes etched with the holiest of whites. “But for us lowly folk with but sliver of the power of thy might, we need some kind of hope”.

I rolled my eyes, shaking my head slightly a soft chuckle leaving my oral cavity. “My dearest Jay, thou are anything but meager in thy might. Thou think I would keep thy company if that was truth?” Jay smiled to me, and then with a bow and mutter of respect he left me to my lonesome.

I yawned and turned away from the portrait. It was almost time for my slumber, I could feel it. We elders did not sleep like normal creatures; we would go months, years, and sometimes decades without sleeping. Then when we had exhausted ourselves we would fall into a deep slumber for years. This would be my last slumber before it happened.

I awoke to a cheery face, my body felt so alive yet hungrier than a lioness locked in a cage with no food for a week. It demanded me to lash and take food by any means. My slender form screamed to rip apart my domain and feed on the corpses of my subjects.

Jay obviously saw this written all over my smooth skinned face, for he chuckled and stuck out a taunting tongue. The agile man hopped back a moment later however as my fist came up to smash into his infallible face that so provoked me. I wondered if what I was swinging at was even real for a moment as I sat up condensing my body’s needs. “I’m guessing all went well seeing as I’m looking at y’ur immature face?”

Jay chuckled and juggled three fruits that much resembled apples, “My immature face has kept thou body safe from the plebeians and ruthless pillagers, ye should show more respect mi liege”.

“So it begins again”, I mutter in annoyance and amusement, “How is it that the great Lazian is stuck with such an immature jester among creatures that plays with illusions to woe young maidens?”

Jay didn’t let my words hurt him in the least. He smiled and struck a dramatic pose extending an arm like he were Shakespeare about to deliver an earthshaking speech. “Thou words are like serrated swords stabbing into my blood organ then ripped out shredding it to bits and sending arcs of pain through my body as my vital life fluid gushes out so gallantly in my falling”, Jay’s poetic voice hit every key and note perfectly executing the speech and actually managed to let a single tear slide down his cheek.

I stood up and stretched trying to relieve the tension in my body, “Oh, stifle y’ur dramatics. I have a dominion to run and don’t need to be a wet-nurse also”.

“Lazian, Lazian, tsk, tsk”, He smiled and shook a finger before him looking uttermost cocky, “you should be nicer to your most faithful of subjects”.

I just chuckled, “Most faithful subjects?” I asked in amusement and hurled a nearby tome at him, then listened as it thudded to floor. I shook m head and walked out of the room taking note of my servants that walked around.

“Jay”, I started in an annoyed voice, “how is it that all of my servants have turned into gorgeous seductresses in my absence?” I asked already knowing the answer.

The other male just grinned and shrugged, “I haven’t the faintest clue, perhaps the water?”

The rest of the day I spent putting things back in order, I felt as if I were living in a playboy mansion. Every turn I made there was another barely dressed succubus trying to entrance me with her well formed and rather bust lady features.

I played into none of their games until she came. A tingle of something foreign to me spike through me like a pen needle and was coated with a lusty feeling like an assassin’s blade is coated in poison. Who would have thought those milky baby blue eyes, infallible, pallid skin, and silky smooth hair that gently lifted off her shoulders like a goddess as she walked would be my fall. Such a meager creature, innocence written all over her face, etched with a deadly knife. She wore but a white lacy cloth tainted with the lightest of blues barely covering her full and mature breasts. Down below she wore the smallest of skirts made from the same lacy fabric.

Our eyes locked for a moment and I swear I knew the answer to every question in the world for a just a moment. For just a moment everything become crystal clear and the mysterious shrouds of the world became as lucid as water.

I looked down then to the side to see Jay’s mocking face, “Dost mi liege’s heart tingle for thee maiden?” he inquired innocently hiding the jest behind it expertly.

“I would have thee tongue cut out and served on the silver-est of platters for its juvenile looseness”, my reply came on tart yet smooth vocals. I looked back for the girl that so enticed me, but I saw her not.

This was the beginning to my end. This is where my story really starts. This is the shadow of my life.
